Hello, we have a requirement to categorise tags. To just have them listed in alphabetical groups is not enough. So this is not 'category' in the current sense. Categorising tags, or grouping them if you like. e.g. Category: colour tags: blue, green, red. I need to do 2 things:

    1. Modify the Tag entry screen to add tags under a category (i wont worry about a category entry screen, just put them straight in the db). I think I can work this out, ive made the changes I need to the db, i.e. new tagcategory table, which foreign keys into the tag table. I think I can work out how to create a new module to manage tags by creating them under categories. Can I just inherit the current Tag behaviour and customise?

    2. I have no idea how to go about this bit! I need to then modify the behaviour in the news module edit page, so the bit where you assign tags to the document, to show these categories and the available tags under them. I have absolutely no idea how to get under the bonnet of the news module to customise it? Help!

    thank you, Louise.

Generally the best option here is creating a custom module with custom views and implement the logic you want. Anyway, another option will be extending the News Module views. You have to replace the default view and its template and implement your logic that gets/sets the categorized tags. For more detailed information please take a look at Replacing a child view with another one
When you load NewsItemNew or NewsItemEdit - SetContentForm method is called. When you press save - SaveContent method is called.
