    Hi Annie,

    Thank you for using our services.

    Did you merge both web.config files properly? If you have custom modules did you rebuild them using references to the new assemblies? Please check your error log file for more detailed information on the exception you are getting.

    All the best,

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply. It looks like sitefinity is not writing to the error logs, the file is blank

    Hi Annie,

    Unfortunately the error does not lead enough information to tell you what exactly cause the error. You said that you are trying to upgrade to 3.7, but the exact version is not shown - there are three SP. If you are upgrading to Sitefinity 3.7 SP3 make sure that you have changed the dataAccess providers in your web.config  as shown below

    <dataAccess defaultConnection="DefaultConnection">
                <connections>
                    <add name="DefaultConnection" driver="Telerik.DataAccess.Providers.ExtendedSqlServer2005Provider, Telerik.DataAccess" connectionStringName="Sitefinity"/>
                    <add name="GenericContentConnection" driver="Telerik.Cms.Engine.Data.Providers.GCSql2005Provider, Telerik.Cms.Engine.Data" connectionStringName="Sitefinity"/>
                </connections>
            </dataAccess>

    Kind regards,
    Ivan Dimitrov

    Hi Annie,

    This is Sitefinity 3.7 SP3. Have you merged the web.config properly?

    Hi Annie,

    In Sitefinity SP3 the data provider is IExtendedSQLDataProvider, but the stack trace shows that you use SQLDataProvider,  which is the old one used in versions prior 3.7 SP3.

    Please merge <dataAccess> section of the web.config file.

    Sincerely yours,
    Ivan Dimitrov

    Hi,

    I changed the data access section of the web.config to use ExtendedSQLDataProvider but we are still getting this error, also the errors are not getting logged in sitefinity.log

    Thanks,
    Annie
