We're looking to create a 3 tier website with sitefinity and had a question if this was possible.

Out of the box, you have the public side and the admin site.  What we're trying to do is have a "pay to play" area that a public user would log in and be granted access to that given area and still have the admin side manage the content and other aspects of this.

Is this possible (I'm sure it is, not 100% sure on the best way to go about it)

idea : use a different membership provider so the admins would log into provider A and the normal users would login using provider B ...not sure how sitefinity would handle that though.  Would the roles in a web.config entry still work?  Hmm...

    Hello Jesse,

You could create different roles and assign them specific permissions. For example, the role Administrator has full permissions, while a role called Page Creator could have permissions only to create pages and edit them, which includes adding public controls to these pages. To do that, go to the Administration tab in Sitefinity Admin area, then to Users. Create a new role. Then, go to the Pages tab and to the Permissions tab (as shown in attached screenshot). Select the role from the drop-down list and specify the permissions for it.

For more information, see the Permissions section in the User Manual which is part of the Sitefinity installation. (You could also download it from here)

Let us know if you have further questions.
