    Hello Tim,

This is a known issue that is specific for SQL Server 2000. It is caused by the fact that if a given column is of type text, ntext or image, it could not be used in WHERE and ORDER BY clause of the query. The particular reason for this exception is that the data type of Owner column in sf_frm_Post table should not be ntext but nvarchar(50). This is already fixed for the upcoming SP scheduled for the end of the month.

We are sorry for the inconvenience.

    Pepi,

If I can understand correctly, I should change Owner column in sf_frm_Post table
    from ntext to nvarchar(50).

    Please let me know
    Thanks
    Tim

    Pepi,

I changed the column data type and it works.

For Forum module, I added a single thread control into page and setup editPostPage and singleForumPage Properties. But for some reason, I got Object reference not set to an instance of an object message on the page.

    Please help
    Tim

    Hi Tim,

The reason for this exception is that you are not using SingleThread control in the right way. There is no point to directly access the page containing the SingleThread control. This page should be accessed through a page containing all forum threads for example, because SingleThread control should know what the selected thread is. Have a look at this article that discusses the using of different Forums module controls.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards,
    Pepi

    Hi Pepi,

I read the article and it helps a lot. But I still have a question. I tried to use login page before end user can do any posts. The wired thing is the reply link doesn't show up at all after I set Deny anonymous authors to yes and it never points to login page either.

Please let me know if I did anything wrong

    Hi Tim,

This is the expected behavior. When you set "Deny anonymous authors", only users that are authenticated and authorized can post in forums. An authorized user is a user who belongs to a role that has "create" permissions for the forums module. Please examine the TIU site, this functionality with forums and forum users is provided there.

With Sitefinity 3.1 you have to create a role and add these users to it. With the service pack you can give the role "everyone" permissions to create forums, so every user that is authenticated will be able to post replies and create threads.

I hope this information is helpful, if you have any other questions, feel free to ask again.

    Yasen

    Hi Yasen,

The service pack you mentioned. Is it for Sitefinity 3.1? If the service pack is for Sitefinity3.1, when is it going to be available?

    Please let me know
    Thanks
    Tim

    Sitefinity Team,

Please correct me if I am wrong, I think the login page should show atomically when end user wants to do a post. But current forum module doesn't work that way or maybe I done something wrong.

    Please let me know
    Tim

    Hello Tim,

You are right, this is something we've missed out. It has already been fixed and you'll be able to get the fix with the service pack coming out till the end of the month. Now the Reply buttons are visible even if the user is anonymous and automatically redirect to the login page. The Login page has to contain a Login control, available in the toolbox. Also, there are two forums controls that have the LoginPage property - Forums and EditPost. Depending on which control you are using, you should set that property, too.
Thank you for reporting this. Your Telerik points have been updated!

    All the best,
    Slavo
