When editing content with GenericContent Control, the control seems to update relative links automatically.

I had an H2 tag wrapped around a relative link:

    <h2><a href="Somepage.aspx">Some Page</a></h2>

I used the GenericContent Control to update from an H2 to an H3 and this happened:

Can you help provide a solution for the GenericContent Control to not automatically update my relative path links?

    Thanks

    Hello mcpdinkansas,

Thank you for using our services.

When you use relative links such as this one they will be resolved by the browser based on the current page you are on. For example if I am in Generic Content module and edit a content item my current path is ~/Sitefinity/Admin/Modules.aspx and the relative link will be resolved based on this path. Thus when previewing the content item the link will appear to be such. However in the content itself the link will not be changed. This behavior is not coming from the editor or Sitefinity. You can use our link manager to include relative links to ensure that the relative paths are resolved as they should be.

    Hey Radoslav,

I appreciate your reply, but this does not help me as I still have the issue. The GenericContent editor has some type of functionality that changed my relative links to include the domain of the site and the admin path in front of the link as described in my original post.

I experianced this issue with the link builder as well in which I had to add some custom Javascript to stop the link builder from changing my relative link urls (ref. - http://www.sitefinity.com/devnet/forums/sitefinity-3-x/developing-with-sitefinity/insert-link-relative-path.aspx)

Please look into this further and provide me with a solution. I will open a support ticket as well and can do a GoTo Meeting to demonstrate if needed.

    Thanks

    Hello mcpdinkansas,

Can you make sure that the RadEditor in your control templates does not have the MakeUrlsAbsoulte content filter enabled. If it has this filter than the RadEditor will automatically change the content. Otherwise this would not happen.
