    Sitefinity Team,

I try to set the Generic Content width through properties tab and found out it doesn't work the way I expected. For example, I set the width as 300px, but the text in the generic content still wrapped into second or third line. It didn't stay on one line as I expected.

    Sitefinity Team,

I tried some other properties for generic content and found out none of those properties work, such as backcolor, bordercolor, BorderStyle.......

By the way I am using Sitefinity version 3.0.

Please let me know if I am missing anything here.
    Thanks
    Tim

It doesn't look like it works to me.  It might be a bug.  I tested it on the Demo web site on Sitefinity's web site.

It's kind of a messy solution, but you could always switch into HTML mode in RadEditor and wrap your content in a:

    <div style="50px">My content goes here.</div>

This will work, although it would be nice if the "width" property worked.

I haven't heard any response back from Sitefinity Team so far and wondering what's going on.

Sitefinity team,  Please let me know if it's bug or I did something wrong.

    Thanks

    Hi Tim,

The Generic Content control currently doesn't actually render any tags for itself, it is purely a placeholder, those properties probably shouldn't be showing in the editor.

So currently in order to set the width you would probably have to create your own User Control and add the Generic Content control to it, then the width could be set on that.  There are example on the forums how to create that.

Hopefully Telerik will answer you soon but I imagine they are working hard on getting the newest version out, if you want an urgent response then don't use the forums instead submit a support request from your client Account.

    Cheers
    Sean

    Sitefinity Team,

Since the properties don't work for the Generic content, please show me how to disable the properties from Generic content interface.

    Thanks in advance
    Tim

    Hello Tim,

The properties are not used for GenericContent control, because it does not render any tags. Actually, GenericContent inherits WebControl class, and CssClass, Font, BackColor, etc.  properties are inherited from WebControl. Therefore, you see these properties in the Property View tab.
In the new version this issue is fixed - GenericContent now inherits Control class and there are no unused properties.
