I have a list of jobs posted on our site.  We thought it would be fun to move the list to a column on the right and put some graphics on the main part of the page.  My intention was to have the links open a page where they would be displayed in the main content region for the page.  I don't see any way to do this with the provided controls.  Am I missing something?

See our employment page here: http://www.simplybits.com/about/employment.aspx
Click a job from the right.  We want it to open on the left.

Currently we are using the DIsplayList control with the "Page list" display option.

    Hi Jason,

This is possible with a custom lists control on a page configured to use page & list mode. In this case the list item ID is passed as an argument, so you can use the API to get this item and show its content. Please take a look at this post

    Hi,

I am trying to do the same.. however I have been on this for a whole day now but I am not able get it to work. First challenge is the reference URL you provided here is from 2010 and is there any change in inheriting ListDisplay control? Because I cannot find ListDisplay for inheriting and also bigger problem I dont have the telerik.Lists assembly anywhere in my installation.

I have tried to find everywhere but am not able to find how to get the Telerik.Lists reference. Without this how can I implement custom control and show a list item using the query string method as stated here http://www.sitefinity.com/devnet/forums/sitefinity-3-x/suggestions/lists-open-in-new-page-view.aspx  ?

I am really stuck, someone please help..

    Thanks,

    Hello Sowmya,

Please check whether you use 3.x or 4.x edition. Telerik.Lists.dll is included in all installation after 3.2.
There is a Lists module since 4.1 release.

I am on 4.1.1405.0 version. In the scenario that I use the Lists module for implementing a custom control for Lists, what shoudl I inherit from, is it still ListsDisplay or something else? Because ListsDisplay does not seem to be recognized as either some reference is missing or its called something else.

In other words, I am trying to implement the same code as in this forum but with the 4.x version. Could you guide me to do the same. I know I am close but I think, I am stuck and not able to think differently to resolve this.

    Hello Sowmya,

In Sitefinity 4.0 the control is Telerik.Sitefinity.Modules.Lists.Web.UI.ListView and it uses PageListItemMasterView where the actual binding occurs and you have access to the data items. It is a quite complex control and using the API you can create a new new that resolves the items by ID and opens them in a new windows as you want it.

    Kind regards,
