How can I get the password to log into the dashboard if I've forgotten it?   They are encrypted in the database and there is no forgot password link on the login page so not sure what to do at this point.   Need to log in asap, please help!

    Hi Allison,

Here is a solution to this problem. You are not able to retrieve the old password and you should create the new one directly from the database.

Below are the steps that should be performed.

    1.Open your database.
    2.Open telerik_Users table
3.Select "Password Format" column for your Admin user and change its value from "1" to  "0".
    4. Enter a new password in "Password" column. When the Password Format is set to zero, the password is plain text.
5.Save all changes then log in using the new password for the desired user.

    Hope this helps.

Once you perform this, how do you go about changing this back to a Password Format of '1' so that the Password isn't in plain text?

    Hi Matthew,

Log with the user which password has been changed, go to "My Profile", select "Change Password" and change the password for this user. The database will be automatically updated.
Another way is resetting the password to this user through the backend.

    Best wishes,

I am constantly amazed how developers can continue to build out additional features without getting basic stuff done first.  You should allow the admin the ability to reset someone password. How can you NOT have a password reset feature on the login???

This is my #1 complaint about Sitefinity and a lot of other packages.  You (the developers) ignore basic, necessary, functionality which degrades the overall usability of the your applications just so you can state you have some new half baked feature...

    Hi Richard Chimelis,

Thank you for feedback to us. We will consider your suggestion for future releases. Meanwhile you could extend the login form using PasswordRecovery ASP.NET control.
