    Hi Team

    I need to play the video on the home page, for this i have created a video library and dropped the video control on the home page, video is showing up on the home page.

    Now on the click on the video, it is redirecting to another page and on that page i am able to play the video, but this is not the behaviour i want, i need to play the video on click on it, without redirecting to another page.

    I mean i should have the play button on load of the page and the user can directly play the video without any redirection.

    how can i do that?

    Thanks,
    Kranthi

    Hi Kranthi,

    Please do the following steps:
    1. Edit the home page
    2. Add a video control
    3. Edit the Video control and click on the "Settings" link in the Basic tab
    4. Select "Use a page especially prepared to hold the full info" radio button and click on the "Select" button and select the same page (home page) and press "I'm done" button
    5. Add a video control
    6. Edit the second video control that added and go to the Advanced tab and expanded Behavior section and set BehaviorMode="Detail" and press "I'm done" button
    7. Publish the page

    If you have any problems, do not hesitate to contact us.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your quick response,

    I have tried the above steps and got the output something like this, On the page load i got a video control with image and on click of image, the page got redirected to the same page(reloaded) and now i am able to see the two video controls one with playpause buttons and another one with an image.

    What i want is not to reload the page, but show the video control with playpause buttons on the page load itself.

    Thanks,
    Kranthi

    Hi Kiran,

    If you look at the basic tabs, you will see that currently only the "List&Page" mode is supported, which means that there will be a list tab - once you click on it it will go the detail page.

    Now, if you want to have a detail page right way, this means that when there are more videos the page load will slightly be slower than when only image listing view is displayed. Still, we will consider it for one of our next releases.

    In the meantime, if you want to have only one video on the page that will be shown when you first load the page (like a home page with a featured video) you can use the direct detail view link and the format of the link follows:
    http://<host>/<app_name>/{page}/{ProviderName}/{YourSelectedLibrary}/[Name].aspx

    Example:
    http://localhost:2889/emptyproject/video/Libraries/VIdeo_Library/Bear.aspx

    You can override the format from libraries data provider.

    Also, a simple media player control is attached to this ticket. Just upload it in Sitefinity. You will need to set the Library provider name, Library name and Item's Guid (take it from the DataBase). When the page is loaded the video can be played without additional redirection. You can also extend it as you like.

    the attached usercontrol works for me, but the only concern is with getting the Item's GUID from the database, I need to get it from a video library order by date created.

    I have tried to find out the solution for this from the past 3hours but not got suceeded till now, Is this possible?

    Hello Kranthi,

    Why do you actually need a GUID for detail view, you can use video's title as the permalink, is that what you mean ?

    Kind regards,

    We have a similar need for playing/embeding a single video on a page.

    We have loaded the user control provided and configured the LibraryProvider and LibraryName.

    Previous posts state that a GUI from the database is required. Is this true? A follow-up post stated that the title of the video could be used. We can't seem to get this method to work. Retrieving the GUI from the DB is not practical from a end-user stand point.

    Thanks for your assistance.

    Hello Mike Brady,

    You can create a custom selector and add it to Video control. Thus you will be able to select a Content Item by name and set its ID although Mehfuz suggested using permalink instead.

    sample code for retrieving the IDs

            LibraryManager lManager = new LibraryManager();
            IList list = lManager.GetAllLibraries("Video"true);
            foreach(ILibrary lib in list)
            {
                IList allItems = lManager.GetContent(0, 0, string.Empty, lib.ID);
                foreach(IContent cnt in allItems)
                {
                    Response.Write(cnt.ID.ToString() + "<br />");
                }
            }

    Sincerely yours,
    Ivan Dimitrov
