    Hi SF team

I have a strange questions, hopefully it makes sence

The requirement is to provide speaker notes for download, but the file will be available in different versions
    i.e.
    Speaker-bob.pptx
    Speaker-bob.ppt
    Speaker-bob.pdf

they are all the same thing but different versions, so would need them to be as one document (in the backend) and when you edit it, you have the ability to upload the different versions

    Is this possible?
    thanks

    Hi Markus,

Can you please specify why do you want the files uploaded as different versions of one file, so that maybe I can offer you some workaround for the functionality you demanded. What you want is not quite possible since the files are of different MIME type in first place, but one option you have is to put an archive for each speaker and pack the 3 files inside (easiest solution, but maybe not what you wanted exactly). Another option is to create a different library or category for each speaker and filter the download list widget to display documents in a certain library / associated with a certain category.

    Kind regards,

    Hi

Sorry i dont actually want them all uploaded as one file
I meant in the CMS backend, you upload the main file, and then when you goto the properties of that file you also have the ability to upload 2 or 3 other versions

There will be a speaker every week (mostly the same speaker) and I need to have the output on the front end like so:

Date               |  PDF Notes link | PPTX Link  |  PPT Link  |  Audio File
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
01st Jan 2011      download           download     download    download
08th Jan 2011      download           download     download    download
15th Jan 2011      download           download     download    download
22nd Jan 2011     download           download     download    download
29th Jan 2011      download           download     download    download
05th Feb 2011     download           download     download    download

Do organise this properly, i was hoping to extend the module

    Does this make sense?
    Thanks

    Hello Markus,

You can expose custom fields for notes, link , audio etc. So you will have one main document with attachments to it. You will have to create a custom public control to show the data, but you should be able to keep using the backend as is.

    Best wishes,

I have a similar problem as this user specified.   I have a single topic, with multiple files tied to this topic.  I need to display a table (list) on a page with each row displaying the topic and multiple files associated with each topic available for download.    You mention creating a custom list.   How do you do this?

    Hello ,

Please check our user manual adding custom fields section to see how to associate custom data with a content item. Then you can use GetMetaData method of a content item to get the custom field value and use it in your implementation.

    Ivan,

This doesn't appear to do what I need.  I have four files (call them File A, File B, File C and File D).   File A and File B are associated with an event hosted on 12/1/2010.  Files C and D are associated with an event hosted on 1/23/2011.  I want to expose a list with 2 rows - one for each event date.  Associated with each row in the table are the two file downloads.

The download list control only allows a single file association per table row.  Is there not a better way?

    Hi Mark,

Why adding custom fields which value could be represented as links is something different? I do not see what is the difference from your scenario if you expose to custom fields and render the value as hyperlinks near by the main link and style them with css.
