    Hi all,

    We are in the process of evaluating Sitefinity 3.7 standard before purchasing and I am working through getting a pluggable module set up.

    I downloaded the Visual Studio template available in the documentation, set it up complete with OpenAccess data access and thought I had a basic grasp of the concepts.  Until I tried to add a separate view to my module. :(

    After scouring the internet I stumbled across this blog and this just seemed to add to my confusion.

    http://www.sitefinity.com/blogs/ivan/posts/09-02-18/sitefinity_3_6_new_backend_architecture_-_documentation_outline.aspx

    The way the module setup is outlined in the blog page seems totally different to the way the Visual Studio template set things up.

    For example, the blog mentions setting up a view like this:
    public class ContactsView : ViewModeControl<ContactsControlPanel>

    The way the Visual Studio template set up my pluggable module was like this:
    public class ControlPanel : ControlPanelBase

    public class CommandPanel : CommandPanelBase

    I cannot seem to find examples that are consistent.  Which way should I be setting up my modules?
    Also I still have no clear answer on setting up multiple views.  Is there better examples or tutorials out there that I haven't found yet?

    Advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Nathan :)

    Thanks for the information Ivan. :)

    I would suggest that the templates available for download need to be highlighted with a warning about different versions of Sitefinity.  Very confusing for new potential developers.

    Regards

    Hi Ivan,

    I read the documentation you recommended and downloaded the sample contact module which I set up without a problem.  However I have discovered the example module is way too complicated for me to try and use as a starting point for anything else.

    Is there a simple template version of a module that can be downloaded?

    Thanks

    Nathan

    Hello Nathan,

    These samples do not come with VS template. All samples comes with steps that you can follow to set them.

    Hi Ivan,

    I actually found the books sample module after writing my previous post so I decided to use that as a starting point.

    Thanks again for the assistance. :)
