    I want to write the code to have multiple containers that are in line see example below. The code below is not working it is still stacking instead of inline

    THIS IS WHAT I WANT
    Container 1         Container2       Container3

    THIS IS WHAT I GET
    Container1
    Container2
    Container3

    <ul class="inline">

    <li><asp:contentplaceholder id="container1" runat="server"></li>

    <li><asp:contentplaceholder id="container2" runat="server"></li>

    <li><asp:contentplaceholder id="container3" runat="server"></li>

    </ul>

    the best way to imliment it is through divs,
    by using Float command you can restrict the divs to stack horizontally, rather vertically

    <div class="containerDiv">
    <div style="float:left; width:33%"><asp:contentplaceholder id="container1" runat="server"></div>
    <div style="float:left;width:33%">contentplaceHoder Here</div>
    </div>
