I currently have two categories and each category has two items within it. When adding the Newslist Control to a page and specifying which category items I would like to display, It ignores this property and displays all list items / news items in all categories. Is this a common bug?

    Hey Dean,

    Thanks for contacting us.

Are you using the latest release of Sitefinity, version 3.2 hotfix 1616? It sounds like you are using version 3.1 and filtering by categories was a known issue at the time. I'd recommend using our NewsView control instead, since the issue with filtering by categories was fixed. To upgrade your project to the latest release, please follow these upgrade instructions.

Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

    Thanks,
    Joe

    Hello Nitesh Rastogi,

Thank you for using our services.

Please follow the below steps to configure your news view. What you will need to do is to create two separate pages with two news view controls on them.

    1) Create the first page that will display the news as a list. In this example I will name it ~/news.aspx. Place a News View control on that page.

    2) Create the second page that will display single news items. In this example I will create the page to be a child page of ~/news.aspx and name it newsitem.aspx. In the Site Map this page will appear as ~/news/newsitem.aspx. Place a News View control on this page also. Open the News View control for edit and go to Advanced tab. There specify BehaviorMode to Detail. In the Explicit Links section point the ItemListUrl to the page that will hold the news list (~/news.aspx). See newsviewdetail.png for reference.

    3) Go to the page that will display news list. Open the News View control for editing. Click on News Settings and scroll down to the bottom. Select the Use a page especially prepared to hold the full info radio button and provide the path to the details page (~/news/newsitem.aspx). See newssettings.png for reference.

If you have more questions, please feel free to contact us.

    Greetings,
    Rado
