    Hi,

Assume there is no norwegian language pack (small country) correct?

So my objective is to make a CMS for norwegian only. So using module like News there are english texts compiled with telerik.dll (I assume). So which procedure should I follow to make a complete norwegian CMS using several modules like new, events etc.

    Hi krhyll,

We could send you a not compile resources for the whole CMS that you can translate and then send them back to us. Afterwords we will compile the resources for the current release and will send assemblies to you.

    I hope this helps.

Translated the news directory only. Not able to upload in forum, so it was sent by e-mail to support@telerik.com instead Yesterday.  Have you received it?

The idea is that we should compile the whole backend translated. However, you can open a support ticket and send the files.

    Hi Ivan,

Well it took some 1 hour pluss to translate news only. In the phase of evaluating Sitefinity vs. DNN to find the  best CMS for norwegian website, it's not possible to spend one day to convert the complete language pack. If I choose Sitefinity it might be interesting but for now then will upload news only through support ticket.

    Hello krhyll,

You can find the no resources compiled and attached to this post. You need to enable website localization through <localization> attribute of your web.config file. Then create a folder called "no" inside your bin folder and add the attached dlls to the newly created folder.

    Hi
When everything is ready i will send the whole package to you for compiling... or maybe we will wait for the 4.0 where compiling is not necessary...
Iam right now not sure if the lang. pack wil be distributed free... or we need a small amount for it. I will come bck to this when its ready - right now is 90% ready.

    Hello Mart,

    1. The resources are compiled for Sitefinity 3.7 SP1. If your version is different the resources will not work and you should upgrade your project.
    2. We have only Dutch compiled resources.

    To Ivan and Knut,

For our part it would be very ideal (no surprise here! :)) to somehow have the norwegian localization as part of the Sitefinity installation. There should be a market in Norway for this product if norwegian localization is included.

I'm impressed by the courage by Knut to start translating all those .resx files and really hope there can be an agreement.

We will definitely contribute with a fee if we can get norwegian localization instead of using weeks to translate.

    Hello,

I did a build but there is no norwegian / dutch text.

    This is what I did:
    1. Edit webconfig:

    <

    localization defaultProvider="Sitefinity" persistenceMode="PathPrefix" defaultCulture="nl-NL" cultures="nl-NL,de,en,es,no" allowSpecificCultures="true">

    <

    providers>

    <

    clear />

    <

    add name="Sitefinity" type="Telerik.Localization.Data.DefaultProvider, Telerik.Localization.Data" connectionStringName="DefaultConnection" />

    </

    providers>

    </

    localization>

    2. add this file:  \WebSites\test\App_Data\Configuration\Telerik.Sitefinity.Configuration.ControlsConfig.xml
    3. add to bin the files in no folder :

     - \Telerik\Sitefinity3.7\WebSites\test\bin\no\Telerik.News.Data.resources.dll
     - \Telerik\Sitefinity3.7\WebSites\test\bin\no\Telerik.News.resources.dll
    4. add to bin the files in nl folder the compiled files you sent me:

    5. add standard external templates and made nl-NL versions of them

    Please help

    Hi Mart,

    1. Your are using nl-NL which is a different culture than "nl". As mentioned before we have only Dutch compiled resources. You can gather more information about culture name formats from MSDN.

    2. add this file:  \WebSites\test\App_Data\Configuration\Telerik.Sitefinity.Configuration.ControlsConfig.xml

This file does not have anything to do with the localization. It is responsible for external template host type and location.

    5. add standard external templates and made nl-NL versions of them

The compiled resources are only for the backend and it is not necessary to map any templates or alter
their names to use the compiled resources. You need just to add the whole "no" and "nl" folders to your bin and recompile the application.

    Hello Ivan,

    I found the problem.
The version you compiled the dutch langauage pack to was for sp 3.7 asp.net 3.5
I was working with asp.net 2.0 another assemble reference.

Now it works but the tranlation is not very good.
Isn't it possible to get the source of the and compile them at our site as we are planning to do more translations?

    Hi Ivan,

Could you please update me on status for norwegian language pack and Knut's translations here. Will there be any included in Sitefinity in the near future or not?  We need to make a decision soon whether to use Sitefinity or DNN for our project and it must provide norwegian interface.

    Hi Ivan & Knut,

Not sure about the process from here then.  Reading this posting, the picture seems something like:
    - language package is only available if community contributes (at least for "odd" languages)
    - having a licensed Sitefinity you are able to compile your own language resource files for the different modules (as Knut is doing)
    - there is no established and defined policy for "payback" for customers like Knut who contributes with language recource files

I conclude that Knut is willing to contribute for some kind of fee. I've stated earlier that I'm willing to pay a reasonable fee for the norwegian language pack. But the conclusion for me now is that there is no established dialog between Ivan and Knut in order to  add norwegian to the Sitefinity and it's impossible to know whether it will be available or not. Is this correct?

I need to make a decision in not so far future.

    Hello krhyll,

Until now all resources that we received are compiled form us not matter from what type of user (Community or Standard. )they have been supplied. For the customers efforts we give Telerik points and then share the resources with all users.
Since the process of translation is as is( and it will be changed from Sitefinity 4.0 - the translation will be available from the backend, not compilation will be required) we will keep compiling all client files. If someone does not want to share his/her job we will make only custom build.

    Sincerely yours,

    Hi Ivan,

I've decided to go with Sitefinity for the project, find SItefinity a lot more intuitive and userfriendly then DNN. So I will soon buy my license.

I started this morning a process of converting all .resx files and will hopefully be finished during the day. Will make the files available for you as last time and hope you can compile new .dll's for me. The norwegian news .DLL worked like a charm! :)

I don't mind to share the files, but might need a second compile since it's difficult to see correct translation before it's seen in correct context.

    Thanks...
