Update:  I rewroted the code in code behind to load the Combo box dynamiclly on page load.  This enable to me to get rid of any duplicate values.

This time instead of using GuiD I just set both fileds to string Office City.  To fix the IE 8/7 display problem, I place the control in a table with two columns.

This fix the drop down selection problem and layout.

Has anyone attempted to use the text box with the autocomplete extender?  I set up a demo aspx page and works great.  When I attempted to move the code to a control, the call to the web service to load autocomplete extender failed.  I have the webservice call in the code behind.  Anyway just wondering.

    Hi Georgi,

Yes My final code  ended up using the Telerik Combo box.  I was running into some strange behaviors with loading the Guid as the value and City into the text of the Combo box.  When you select an item at the bottom of the list then click any where on the page the select value would revert to an at the top of the box.

I suppected I had a duplicate value somehow coming from the database. So I ended loading loading the combobox in the code behind by looping through the linq results.  I would add the values to the list if the city did not exist already in the list. This fix the problem above.   Bassiclly I had some bad data in the development sql server.

I did attempt to use asp ajax controls autocomplete extender, which is a very nice control.  The problem I ran into there was figuring out how to call a webservice to load the control.  I will have to some more digging on this site to figure out how to do this.  I like the idea of using webservice to load a control.

    Thanks,
    David
