    Hi
We are upgrading a project from 3.6 to 3.7 SP3.
The site has a template which has 3 rad menus and a site menu. All these were using different skins as shown in the attached files. But in 3.7 there is no way to mention the skin path. How do we apply these skins to the controls now.

    Thanks
    Richa Gupta

    Hello Richa,

Here is a link that provides information about how to use/create custom skins Tutorial: Creating A Custom Skin

    1. You can add skin file for the RadMenu control inside your theme folder. You could take a look at the attached image for reference.
2.In your Theme folder you need to create two( or more folders). Each folder should have the name of the skin. You could take a look at the attached image for reference.
    3. Drop SiteMenu or RadMenu control on a page. Set the Theme you have modified. Open the control for editing, and disable the embedded skins by setting EnableEmbeddedSkins property of the RadMenu control to false. Then set the Skin property to the name of your custom skin ( for instance Menu1)

    All the best,

Ok, Thanks Ivan. That works. I had actually done all the steps except setting the EnableEmbeddedSkins property to False in the control editor. I had actually done it in the RadMenu.skin file and thought it will apply but i guess it doesnt.
Also, in the RadMenu.skin file there can be only one <telerik:RadMenu tag, right?
How does it help when am using more than one skins?

    Second question:
The styles.css files that am copying from 3.6 skins has nomenclature like link, text etc. whereas the radmenu which renders in 3.7 has nomenclature like rmLink, rmText etc.. so can i get the skin files for sf themes like vista, cssblue etc., which i can use in my 3.7 site directly instead of having to modify the ones that i have brought over from 3.6?

    Hello Richa,

    1. The skin file is used when you want to set default skin each time you drop a control of the same type for which the skin has been crated. When you use more than one skin you can switch them from the control designer.  Using skin files and themes stylesheets is the same for the standard ASP.NET websites.

    2. For this question you can take a look at CSS Skin File Selectors and Migrating Skins from RadMenu ASP.NET to ASP.NET AJAX in case you use an older version. You might find this post useful  - RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX receive a major face-lift!
