    Hi Regarding the problem described below about the Rad Editor not displaying the control buttons Bold, Italic etc correctly.

    How do I fix this when editing genereic content on pages.
    Where do I set the enableembeddedskins=true. I have tried setting this in the control templates for generic content but this does not work.

    Thanks,

    Ronan

    Hello ronan,

    Thank you for contacting us.

    There are stiling issues with some of the new controls. We are currently working on this issue and it will be fixed for the next release. In order to avoid this error you should edit EnableEmbaddedSkins RadEditor's property to "True":

    <telerik:RadEditor runat="server" ID="contentEditor"
    ContentAreaCssFile="~/Sitefinity/Admin/Themes/Default/AjaxControlsSkins/Sitefinity/EditorContentArea.css"
    ToolsFile="~/Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/EditorToolsFile.xml"
    EnableEmbeddedSkins="True"
    NewLineBr="False"
    Width="95%">

    You can find and edit the code in ControlPanelInsert.ascx and ControlPaneledit.ascx located under

    "\[YourProject]\Sitefinity\Admin\ControlTemplates\[ModuleName]\"

    Please feel free to contact us if you need further assistance.

    Hi,

    I have just upgraded the Telerik.Web.UI.Dll to v2008.02.0826.35. When I am using the Rad Editor I am receiving strange behaviour on this control.

    See the attached image.

    Thanks,

    Hello rmoynihan,

    Please find the attached Editor.css file that will repair the RadEditor style.
    You can just replace your existing Editor.css located under ~\Sitefinity\Admin\Themes\Default\AjaxControlsSkins\Sitefinity\Editor.css  with the new one. You can also set
    EnableEmbeddedSkins to false as it was in the past.

    Hope this helps.

    Sincerely yours,

    Hi Zubair,

    In version 3.5 SP1 we use Telerik.Web.UI, Version 2008.2.1001.35 ( which is Q2). Do you have it under your bin folder or you use the version you stated before? You could replace the the old assembly with Telerik.Web.UI, Version 2008.2.1001.35.

    Hi,

    Thanks for getting back, in all our projects we use Telerik.Web.UI v2008.2.1001.20 and they're all fine, we've never installed this version of the dll before in any project.

    Tell me what's the next step ?

    Thanks

    Hello Zubair,

    We do not have problems regarding the editor styling in Forums and Blogs module( version 3.5 SP1). Probably applying the styles has changed the layout or you have changed the styles.

    I am attaching some of the default templates for creating and editing posts/items and the default css styles.
    The css files are located under ~\Sitefinity\Admin\Themes\Default\AjaxControlsSkins\Sitefinity\

    Hello Zubair,

    Could you attach the whole Sitefinity folder as a zip archive. I will add it to my local project and see what could be the problem. Please attach some screenshots regarding this issue.

    Hi,

    Your solution fixed the problem in Forums and Blogs rad editor but it seems to have caused another Rad Editor that I use in a SF module go wild.

    Here's the screen shot http://redeemer.omniaconnect.net/_zubair/03.gif and here's the code I use.

    <telerik:radeditor ID="rgtxtLongDesc_edt"
                ToolsWidth="620px"
                NewLineBr="true"
                EnableTheming="true"
                ToolsFile="~/Xml/ToolsFileMinimal.xml"
                ToolbarMode="ShowOnFocus" AutoResizeHeight="false"
                runat="server" Height="200px"
                Content='<%# DataBinder.Eval( Container, "DataItem.LongDescription" ).ToString().Replace("\\n","<br/>") %>' Width="300px">
                </telerik:radeditor>

    Please help me fix this issue as this has been going on for a long time.

    Thanks

    And here's the code behind where I set the skin

    Hi,

    Since I wanted to go live and you guys haven't responded yet so I used EnableEmbeddedSkins="false" and set the CSS files to be used from the same Sitefinity folder that you sent.

    Here's the code for that

    rgtxtLongDesc_edt.CssClass = "~/Sitefinity/Admin/Themes/Default/AjaxControlsSkins/Sitefinity/Editor.css";

    rgtxtLongDesc_edt.ContentAreaCssFile = "~/Sitefinity/Admin/Themes/Default/AjaxControlsSkins/Sitefinity/Editor.css";

    And the control looks like this

    <telerik:radeditor ID="rgtxtLongDesc_edt"
                ToolsWidth="620px"
                NewLineBr="true"
                EnableTheming="false"
                EnableEmbeddedSkins="false"
                ToolsFile="~/Xml/ToolsFileMinimal.xml"
                ToolbarMode="ShowOnFocus" AutoResizeHeight="false"
                runat="server" Height="200px"
                Content='<%# DataBinder.Eval( Container, "DataItem.LongDescription" ).ToString().Replace("\\n","<br/>") %>' Width="300px"></telerik:radeditor>

    But the problem is that some of the icons on the Rad Editor Menu are messed up, here's the screen shot http://redeemer.omniaconnect.net/_zubair/04.gif and using FireBug I noticed (http://redeemer.omniaconnect.net/_zubair/05.gif ) that it uses commandsprites.gif file from Editor/CommandSprites.gif path, I tried replacing that with a file from another project but no use.

    So can you help fix this Rad Editor menu so we have atleast these icons show up properly.

    Thanks,

    -Zubair

    Hi Zubair,

    Try using the following declaration:

    <telerik:RadEditor
                        runat="server"
                        ID="contentEditor"
                        ContentAreaCssFile="~/Sitefinity/Admin/Themes/Default/AjaxControlsSkins/Sitefinity/EditorContentArea.css"
                        ToolsFile="~/Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/EditorToolsFile.xml"
                        Skin="WebBlue"
                        DialogsCssFile ="~/Sitefinity/Admin/Themes/Default/AjaxControlsSkins/Sitefinity/EditorDialogs.css"
                        NewLineBr="True"
                        EnableTheming="false"
                        ToolsWidth="620px"
                        ToolbarMode="ShowOnFocus" AutoResizeHeight="false"
                        Height="200px"
                Content='<%# DataBinder.Eval( Container, "DataItem.LongDescription" ).ToString().Replace("\\n","<br/>") %>' Width="300px"
    </telerik:RadEditor>

    You need to change the ToolsFile property value. I noticed that you have some custom tools file. Also, ContentAreaCssFile property is not correctly set in your code behind.  I hope this helps. The control should be shown on a page properly.

    Let us know if you need further assistance.

    It's still not fixed here's how it looks http://redeemer.omniaconnect.net/_zubair/06.gif, note I'm using the same Sitefinity folder sent by you that fixed Blogs and Forums Rad Editors.

    Please test with the same Sitefinity folder and let me know how it looks.

    Hi Zubair,

    I am sending you the files that are responsible for the control appearance and style - EditorContentArea.css and EditorDialogs.css. These files are located under
     ~/Sitefinity/Admin/Themes/Default/AjaxControlsSkins/Sitefinity
    If you apply the files I am sending you and they does not fix the problem, I suggest that you should replace your Sitefinity folder with the default one. If you have some customizations you can merge them. It seems that there is problem with styling of the controls you have.

    Kind regards,

    This also did not fix the issue.

    The thing is this used to be fine before I applied the Sitefinity folder given by Ivan to fix Rad controls in Forums and Blogs and I still have the folder that has the right styles to fix this one but those will go haywire again.

    Plus I cannot merge the files between the two sitefinity folders since I donno what's changed.

    Now please suggest a fix to this.
