Everytime we do a re-index for a given search index it seems to change all of the file names unders \app_data\search\default\index\. My question is, is there any way to keep consistent naming for the files under index\? The reason I need this is, so that we can have a fully working solution w/search when checked out from the code repository and not have to keep checking in new files after each developer re-index.

    Thanks,
    -James

    Hello james,

These are segment files created by Lucene .NET Search engine. Unfortunately, the names cannot be changed and the way that they are formed is almost random.

Has anyone encountered the fact that when an index is re-indexed, it displays a duplicate set of results for a search? And the next time it is re-indexed, it displays three sets of results?   It seams the result files are not being overwritten...   If not, will Lucene just add the result files to each index?
    Thank you.

    Hi Laura,

This could happen if you create/update or delete items. In this case the index is partially updated. If you re index the entire website from Administration >> Services >> Search segment files should be updated. You could also try recreating the index and removing its files from App_Data/Search/[IndexName] folder.

    All the best,

Lucene seems to have a cfs (compound file) option. Is there any way to re-generate the index programatically within SiteFinity and pass the cfs arguments to ensure the result is a one file with the name that we want?

    Hi james,

Sitefinity API does not expose such methods. We pass the data to Licene and it creates the segment and data files.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Ivan -

As a paying client I would like to formally request that the Telerik Sitefinity team expose these methods and issue a patch for SF 3.*, 4.*.

    Thanks,
    -James
