    Hello,

We often post news to our site that fall under multiple categories. For example, I might post a new item in "Press Releases" and "Entertainment" because it falls under these two categories. But when someone does a search for the article, it will of course show up two times.   My question is how can I post a new article that falls in multiple categories without having to physically post it 2 or 3 times?

    Hello Dan,

How do you categorize one item in two categories? We do not support adding a single item in two categories. So, the easiest option for you to have a single item in two categories is to create an additional metakey(User Manual , page 214 ,Adding Custom Fields) that acts in the same way as the default Category metakey. The index gets data from all metakeys, so your item will appear in the index if someone is looking for "Press Releases" and "Entertainment"

Sorry, I misspoke. You're correct, it is just one category. I've been asked to help someone with their SiteFinity site and i'm still learning how things work in the CMS.   The issue they are having is when someone posts a news item, it will show up several times in the search results.  As you said, it's only one category. Do you have any theories why this may be happening and how to prevent that from happening?

    Hi Dan,

The search result is formed based on the matches. It is possible that the item is matched by two parameters and two ResultItems are generated or you see some old items in the index if you have not reindexed the entire website from Administration >> Services section.

    All the best,

Well, here is what's happening. I just made a test news item. When I did a search for "test" on the front end, my article was found in 3 categories, but i had only selected one.

    /About/PressReleases/10-12-08/This_is_a_test_news_item.aspx

    /Media/intheNEWS/10-12-08/This_is_a_test_news_item.aspx

    /Advocacy/AdvocacyNews/10-12-08/This_is_a_test_news_item.aspx

For whatever reason, it's duplicating the item 3 times.   Have you seen this happen before?
