    Hi All

I am experiencing some problems with a site running sitefinity 3.7. It seems that the website is trying to access a non-existent aspx file from within the 'App_Themes' folder. You can have a look at the stack trace below.

Can anyone please help as soon as possible as my site is down because of this problem?

    Thanks

    Hi Yosief,

I do not see any information in the stack from where this request comes from. How do you cause this error?

    Kind regards,

    Hello Ivan

This specific problem occurrs when the request comes from any page on the site including the home page which is www.XXX.com? Please note that this is an intermittent problem.

    Thanks

    Hi Yosief,

Can you please tell us what you have in your theme? It seems that the problem is caused by some code either on the theme or master page.

    Hi Radaslov,

This post is related this one http://www.sitefinity.com/devnet/forums/sitefinity-3-x/deployment/504-gateway-timeout-on-server-clusters.aspx

This has been an ongoing issue for a while and we're not sure what might be causing this. As I write this our logs are starting to show signs that the Sitefinity sites are going to fall over again at some point and we desperately need to get some kind of resolution to this.

Do you have a white paper of sorts explaining the best scenario and setup for network load balancing or something we can read to start eliminating possibilities so that we can pin point the problem?

    Here's the setup:

We're running three major websites on two (a correction from the previous post) web servers hosted on virtual machines running the following:

    1. IIS6
    2. Win 2003 Standard Edition
    3. Oracle 10g
    4. Sitefinity 3.7
    Hope you can help.
    Thanks,
    James

    Hi Guys,

Is there any word on this? We need some finality on this as this is a major problem for our client if their sites go down again.

    Thanks,
    James

    Hello James@Nw,

Thank you for using our services.

I have taken a look at your themes, and am not seeing anything wrong with them. The only uncommon thing I have noticed is how you use class selectors for Html elemnets, e.g. div[class~="CSSClassName"]. I know this is equivalent to div.CSSClassName. Based on the themes I am not able to see what could be the problem. It looks like something is trying to resolve a path, however you have not provided your error log files and I cannot tell what the particular error is.

I would kindly ask you to wrap up a small Sitefinity project which would have your master pages, themes and a couple of pages using them. Make sure to include custom controls. Then send this project together with the log files. We will set this up locally using the same setup you have and perform further testing.

    All the best,
    Radoslav Georgiev

    Hi Radoslav,

Thanks for getting back to me.

The stack trace error is what you can see at the top of this post. Unfortunately, I cannot send you any log files at this point because this issue is intermittent and we've not been able to pin point the exact location of the problem. When the problems began, we cleared the logs so that we can monitor it more carefully, therefore there isn't anything I can send you until it fails again.

Also, I cannot send you a small copy of the site as these are three major corporate sites that keep going down from time to time, so I have zipped them all up for you and sent a link in the email I've sent to your Client Services email address. Please be on the lookout for it.

I will have get you a dump file of the database but I can only do that when that side of the world is working again.

    Many thanks for your help.
    James

    Hi James@Nw,

I have downloaded the websites and set them up locally to blank databases. I have also created some automated web tests which crawl the websites for some period of time. However I have not been able to reproduce the errors yet. If you happen to experience this problem again, please post the error log in this thread.

    Hi Radoslav,

Have you set this up in the same configuration as mentioned below i.e.

We're running three major websites on two (a correction from the previous post) web servers hosted on virtual machines running the following:

    1. IIS6
    2. Win 2003 Standard Edition
    3. Oracle 10g
    4. Sitefinity 3.7
I have mentioned in my ticket this morning and asked if you have a white paper perhaps on the best way to configure SF with this kind of scenario.

You will most likely not have come across any problems because it is so intermittent. We have to monitor three servers on a regular basis to see that they do not go down.

Thanks for getting back to me on this.
    James

    Hi James@Nw,

I have tested this behavior on fresh websites on IIS 6.0, Win 2003 as well as Oracle 10g express. Unfortunately we do not have white paper discussing the setup for load balancing environment. What you can try to do is to set up both of the websites to point to the same file location so that the file system is aways up to date.

    Kind regards,
    Radoslav Georgiev
