    Hi Duncan Evans,

    Social bookmarks can be enabled for every Generic Content-based module (News, Events, Images & Libraries, Blogs).

    Enabling them for GenericContent-based modules is described in the dev manual.

    Settings for social bookmarks are kept in the file system, as opposed to the database. For example, let me show you how it is for the news module:

    • ~/Sitefinity/ControlTemplates/News
      • socialBookmarkTemplate.xml
        Contains the links for social bookmarks.  {0} is placeholder for the URL and {1} for the title.
        The last section of this file describes where images would be searched for, what extension will they have and in what extension. Image names are expected to be in to form of
        bookmarkName_size.extension
      • SocialBookmark\*
        Contains all bookmark images

    If you want to implement it in your controls, you might take similar approach.

    Kind regards,
    Dido

    I dunno what it is but i have social bookmarks enabled on the following page - http://www.therecoveryplace.net/SocialNetwork/Blogs.aspx, everything i have been told to do in the forums and in the dev manual has been done and they simply do not show.

    In fact the only page these bookmarks show is on the single blog post... I have social bookmarks enabled for my image gallery controls also.... nothing there either.

    Are you totally sure the template you are using for your blogs contains the socail book mark code?

    Maybe can you paste your template file?

    This may not be totaly correct but should be very similiar, I am referencing from a slightly outdated version.
    You should have something like this in your file:
    <class="sf_postBookmark"
          <asp:Repeater ID="Bookmarks" runat="server"
              <ItemTemplate>
                    <asp:HyperLink ID="BookmarkLink" runat="server"
                        <asp:Image ID="BookmarkImage" runat="server" />
                    </asp:HyperLink>
              </ItemTemplate>
          </asp:Repeater>
        </p>

    Hi Brian,

    Brian is correct. Social bookmarks should be present in the template. All generic content-based controls have support for social bookmarks, so if you add this code to your template (if you have not already exported it), it should work. Furthermore, you should have the BookmarksEnabled property of the public control set to true.

    All the best,

    I'm a little confused as to what you mean by "the template i am using" as i am just using the standard built in control (blogs) that comes with Sitefinity. I have nothing listed under the "ItemListTemplatePath" property... Should this be pointing to something i am not aware of?

    Could you guys clarify for me please. i eel out of the loop...

    Hi Duncan Evans,

    Since 3.6, templates are embedded into the Sitefinity assemblies. To override them, you need to map them via a configuration file, ControlsConfig. There is a sample project that demonstrates how to do it.

    So, once you map the template, you will have to see if the bookmarks part is there. If it is not, simply add it and enable social bookmarks.

    Sincerely yours,
    Dido
