    Hi,

I have always used MS Visual SourceSafe to control code backup and development between myself and my team members.  I am wondering if anyone has any luck with working VSS with SiteFinity projects and anyone has any tips to getting it working + running smoother?

Alternatively, I am also interested in knowing how others work with other similar source control software.

    Thank you
    Richard

I've used sourcesafe in the past but was never happy with it. of course that was just for me...

at work, we considered a lot of options, including vss and team foundation. eventually we settled on Fortress by Sourcegear. It works GREAT. haven't had a single issue, we have 5 sitefinity and 2 non-sitefinity sites and all have worked perfectly with the system, with 5 developers working together without issue.

    Highly recommended!

    Hello,

We do not have specific problems with VSS and Sitefinity. If you find something specific and caused by our software though, please let us know.

    All the best,

    Thanks for the information.

I have tried adding the project to VSS (a newly created default project by Sitefinity with nothing changed) and it takes a large amount of time to add everything to the local VSS DB.  I am wondering if I am doing something wrong,  as I understand I can improve the performance of compilation by doing things like hiding the RadControls folder but I cannot locate this in my project.  I've attached a image of the files a typical project  I work on, is there anything that I can do or any folders I can hide to speed up compilation and upload to VSS?
    Thanks

    Hi Richard Leung,

Thank you for the follow up.

There is no RadControls directory in the Sitefinity projects - we have included the assembly only - bin\Telerik.Web.UI.dll

Unfortunately the compile is slow because of the many files in the project. We are working on this issue and Sitefinity 4.0 will compile much faster.

    Kind regards,
    Georgi
