    Hi,

We have modified  a master page via visual studio but stupidly named a ContentPlaceHolder the same as an exisitng ContentPlaceHolder, this is now generating errors across the site.

An item with the same key has already been added.

We have tried to rename the ContentPlaceHolder  but the error still exists because the database is looking for the orignal ContentPlaceHolder name.

Is there any why we can update the name in the database without having to roll back the site/database?

    Hi Mark,

Your problem is not at the database level. When you remove a content place holder the data that is relevant to this placeholder is ignored. This is an Asp.net error and not something related to Sitefinity. Can you try to rebuild your solution again? If you get the same error that means two element on your page still have the same IDs.

Also, check the Sitefinity log in App_Data.

    Best,

    G

    Hello Mark,

George has a point. Can you please provide us with the error log file?

    Kind regards,

    Sorry for the delay.

George you were right,  I tracked the error down to a duplicate ContentPlaceHolder in one of the other master page. i missed it initially as there are 4 levels of master pages.
