    I have two sites:
    1. shows <meta name="Generator" content="Sitefinity 3.7.2057.2:0" />
    2. is community edition and shows <meta name="Generator" content="Sitefinity 3.7.1990.5" />

    Both use the same ascx file but first one shows the unkown server tag error.
    What could be the issue?

    Hello Richa,

    Most probably you have missed to registered any control tag in the web.config or in one of your controls or templates. Here are the 1990 builds that we release

    Release Sitefinity 3.7
    3.7.1990.2 - standard
    3.7.1990.3 - community

    for .NET 2.0
    3.7.1990.220 - standard
    3.7.1990.320 - community

    I had exported a site which was in 3.6 and used the template to create the first site (i mentioned in my original question) in sf version 3.7. I checked the web.config of this newly created site and there were 2 entries:
    <add tagPrefix="telerik" namespace="Telerik.Cms.Web.UI" assembly="Telerik.Framework" />
    <add tagPrefix="telerik" namespace="Telerik.Cms.Web.UI" assembly="Telerik.Framework" />

    I changed it to:
    <add tagPrefix="telerik" namespace="Telerik.Cms.Web.UI" assembly="Telerik.Cms.Web.UI" />
    <add tagPrefix="telerik" namespace="Telerik.Cms.Web.UI" assembly="Telerik.Framework" />
    and the error was resolved.

    Thanks for poinitng me in the right direction.
