I am having an issue with URL Aliasing in both a staging and production environment but not on my development machine. I setup a new page inside a page group and add an additional url in the Page URLS area. I am attempting to create several "vanity url's" pointing to the same resource (e.g. I want "/vanity1" and "/vanity2" to point to resources.aspx). This all works swimmingly on my development machine in VS Development Web Server, but when I replicate to either the staging or live environment, it doesn't work at all. I have worked around this problem by creating physical aspx files with redirects encoded in them but I would prefer that Sitefinity did the work as it should. There is a custom HttpModule that does some URL Rewriting, but this doesn't seem to be interfering on development and I am not sure why it would in production. I did attempt to build the vanity URLS into the Custom Module without success. I also have attempted to use the Sitefinity URL rewriting module without success. I wonder if this is an upstream issue with IIS? Both the staging and production environments are externally hosted and I unfortunately don't have any control over them. Please let me know if there is any special config that I might be missing for the built in aliasing or any other reasons for the failure.

One thing I figured out is that if I append .aspx to my vanity url then it begins working on my staging env. So I am thinking it must be an IIS configuration issue?

    Hi Chris Johannsen,

Thank you for using our services.

Have you enabled the extensionless urls in one environment and not in other. This might be the reason for this to happen. You can take a look at this forum thread for steps on how to enable extensionless urls in Sitefinity.

    Best wishes,
