I am trying to creating a video gallery like the image gallery.  How do I do that?  I saw in one of the threads for me to create the control, but how do I create a control that shows thumbnails of the videos and then the user can select a particular video to watch and play it?  I would like to accomplish this.  I have video playing code, but I was wanting to have a simple gallery to list and then play the video so the client can add videos any time without me needing to code and recode pages all day.

    Hi Robert Williams,

Thank you for using our services.

Since Sitefinity 3.6 we do have video library built in. You can create video libraries, which support .wmv format and then upload .wmv videos tho those libraries, and we do have a Video control. If you want to achieve this using .wmv videos it is already built in. If you wish to use different types of videos, you can add more video extensions to the video library type and substitute the silverlight player control on the template for playing videos with some other, this forum thread might come handy for that purpose.

Does Sitefinity have the control or is it something that I will need to add-in?  If it is something that I need to add in, please provide very simple instructions. :)

    Hi Robert Williams,

There is a built-in video control that can play .wmv, .flv files. You can find the control in page toolbox - Most popular section. First you need to create a library of video type and then using the Video control you can select a video list ( or single file) that will be played.

Is there a way you can simply e-mail me the control and I can upload it into Sitefinity?

    Hi Robert Williams,

Thank you for getting back to us.

From your previous to last post we can see that you are running Sitefinity Community Edition 3.7 SP1 for .NET 2.0. The .NET 2.0 framework does not support Silverlight and therefore Sitefinity for .NET 2.0 does not have the Video library and Video control. You can upgrade to Sitefinity for .NET 3.5 and you will get the desired control. In order to upgrade download an upgrade patch for .NET 3.5 either for your version of Sitefinity - Sitefinity Community Edition 3.7 SP1 or for the latest current release and follow the Upgrade Instructions.

    Kind regards,

How will this affect what has been developed?  I also use VS 2005, which does not support .net 3.5, so will this be a problem as well with my masterpages and custom controls?

    Hello Robert Williams,

If your custom controls are compiled against .NET Framework 2.0 you will have to recompile them. If there are any reference in your controls, pages to controls that are compiled against .NET Framework 2.0 you have to replace them with the relevant in .NET 3.5. Everything else should work as it is now.
