    Hi...

I am fairly new to Sitefinity and am trying to put a video on the homepage of my site.
I only want this particular video to play right now on that page.

How might I go about accomplishing this, please?

Ive tried the Master / Detail thing with two videos and that wont accomplish what I need.

I just want the video player itself to be ready to play and then have the rest of my content below the video player.
When a user clicks on the video it will play (not redirect to another page).

Also... I have a .wmv file that works perfectly well when playing normally, but when I try and play through the player in sitefinity, there is no sound.  I can see video, but no sound.

    Please advise...

    Thanks!

    Hello Michael Waters,

Drop Video control on a page. Open the control for editing. Go to Advanced tab of the control and expand Obsolete Members property category. There is a property SelectedItemId that you can use to set the ID of a single content item ( video item). Although the property is marked as obsolete, this will do the trick.

I am not able to reproduce the second issue you have reported - no sound of a file. Our Silverlight Media Player is just a shell of the Silveright component. We do not alter the playing, so I believe that there is some issue with the file you are trying to play. There could be some problem with the file coding. It will be better if you try to use another file for testing ( for instance one of the built-in video files that come with Windows ) or try pre encoding the files. You can use  Expression Encoder which makes the files directly for Silverlight.

Please take a look at Supported Media Formats, Protocols, and Log Fields.

    Ivan,

    Thanks for the reply.
Where does one get the ID of the video from?

    Thanks,

    Hi Michael Waters,

You can get create a custom control that extracts the ID of each content. You can use GetContent method to get all content items and then a foreach loop to extract the IDs. You can get the ID from the GenericContent module, when you open an item in preview mode the ID is appended to the QueryString.
Another option is to get it directly from the database - [sf_CmsContentBase]

    Kind regards,

    Thanks, Ivan...

I recreated the file and the audio started working.

I also got it to show only that video, which is great.

    My last two issues are:
    - Can I center the video on within the div its in?
    - Can I make the video autoplay on page load somehow?

See attached image for what the page looks like right now...

    Hello Michael Waters,

You could map the external template ListVideoDetails.ascx of the control and change it in accordance to your theme - How to map a template . You can map the template through the control public property - SingleItemTemplatePath located under Advanced tab >> Appearance section of the ControlDesigner.

You can replace the default xap file located under Sitefinity\TelerikSilverlight\ with the attached one and the video will play automatically.
