    Hello Adalbert,

    You need to map the external template in your ControlsConfig file. Here is a sample:

    <viewSettings hostType="Telerik.Cms.Engine.WebControls.HtmlContentEditor" layoutTemplatePath="~/Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/Generic_Content/EditorTemplate.ascx" />

    All the best,
    Ivan Dimitrov

    Hi Adalbert,

    Sitefinity 3.6 and later uses embedded control templates. The templates are compiled as resources in the assemblies. When you wish to change a template, you should map the view (view is technically just a control) to use external template instead of the embedded one. We provide all templates in a separate zip file (ExternalTemplates.zip) which you could download from My Client.net section. So that you should simply pull a template you need, modify it and map a view to it as it is described in the following KB: How to map a view to an external template, in Sitefinity 3.6 or later?

    You could also find useful information on this matter in Sitefinity Blogs.

    Do let us know if you need any further assistance.

    Sincerely yours,
    Pepi
