Is it still not possible to set a sort expression on the default list module widget?  The only references I am finding are older examples of creating custom controls to do this.

I'm looking for exactly the same thing! Shouldn't be such a hard to find option, but i'm still clueless.
Can anyone from Telerik tell us how this can be done?

Yes an ability to sort a list would be great.  I cannot find anywhere to do this.  I would simply like the ability to sort a Sitefinity list (in the front end) by alpha order without having to create a custom widget.  Am I missing something?

    Hi,

There currently is not a way to set sorting options for the list. For now, the only option is to manually reorder the list when modifying the list.

I have submitted a feature request on your behalf. You can follow it in PITS and vote for its popularity.

Great, just so you know there is 6 tickets where people have requested this.  4 of them in the last two weeks.  You might combine these into one vote and issue.

This post talks about being able to added sorting by overriding the base control.  http://www.sitefinity.com/devnet/forums/sitefinity/general-discussions/order-list-master-view-widget.aspx

I have not been successful with it yet.

Has this still not been addressed? I've had to remove almost all list functionality from our site until a fix is created. This is really disappointing.

I am unclear on the sorting functionality with Sitefinity-defined widgets.

    EXAMPLE:

    1) Modified the MVC list widget that SF created when I created a given content type.

    2) Added this widget to a page, and selected the Edit option of the widget.

    3) On the List Settings tab, I selected one of the options in the Sort drop-down list.  The list contained options such as "Last published, Last modified, Buy Title, As set manually, As set in Advanced mode...".

    4) Immediately after closing the widget-editor window, the page displayed an error.  When I checked the logs, I saw a null object reference listed.

My understanding from the previous form posts related to this -- all of which seem to be no more recent than 2012 -- was that there was in fact no sort-setting capability.  Now, however (I am on Sitefinity 9.1), there appears to be a sort-setting capability that does not work.  Is there a reason for this?

This is one of the most basic features of any list control...I am amazed that a) you had to add it as recently as 2012/13, and that it breaks out of the box in the current version.
