    Hi There

Our customer has some serious usability problems using Telerik RadEditor. Is there a more tweedy alternative editor available (e.g. similar to this editor)?

    Main concerns are:
    - invisible auto-inserted paragraphs
    - bullets

    Regards,
    Tom

    Hi Tom,

There is only one TextEditor that is shipped with RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX and it is RadEditor control. The control is required for all built-in modules, but you can replace it with another editor event if it is not shipped by Telerik.

    Best wishes,

Sorry, topic was a bit short of breath because I had to rush away for an appontment...

Unfortunately the customer seems to loose control on how content should be formated. This happens especially when he plays around with different formattings. When I check the HTML which has been generated, there is some very weird stuff going on (emtpy paragraphs which can't be made out from the WYSIWYG-Editor, strange formattings e.g. span, p, etc.).

Thus, I'm looking for a way to simplify the editor for the customer so that he can easily create content without having to care about the HTML which is generated behind the scene...

    Hello Tom,

Here is what you can to do

    1. Remove all toolbars that the user will not use - Introduction to Toolbars

2.Enable Cleaning formatting if necessary - Cleaning Word Formatting , Cleaning Word Formatting On Page Load And On Submit.

    3. Enable or disable some of the built in filters - ContentFilters. You can see a live demo at Editor / Built-in Content Filters

RadEditor tools generate XHTML and breaking the HTML is easily if you paste some non well formed content. By default the RadEditor is trying to validate  and repair the invalid  HTML with adding the necessary tags.

When you paste some content it is better to use PLAIN TEXT format ( like notepad ).

    Sincerely yours,
    Ivan Dimitrov

I feel you're pain tom, I've put in tickets about the gimpy input on the editor, but it doesn't ever seem to go anywhere...always ends up in a "we can't replicate it", or "make a custom filter"....

What I've started doing is adding a RadEditor only style which outlines all Paragraph tags in a faint dotted border, or background color so I can see where they are and when text is in them....also there's a module in the editor (the name escapes me) which shows the parent-child tree of how an item is styled, and it lets you remove a style from the middle somewhere...

I love telerik products, but man is it frustrating sometimes, the workflow output I get sometimes is MADNESS
