    Hello,

We have SiteFinity ver 3.6 installed at a client site.  We have a request to alter the blog post template.  I can locate the template I believe to be the correct ascx file to alter:

    .Sitefinity\ControlTemplates\Blogs\ContentViewSingleItem.ascx

I alter this file but I do not see the changes when I render the blog.  I need to know how to execute the following:

    1.  Alter the template (ascx) to add static items to the template
    2.  Once I alter the ascx how do I make sitefinity recognize the changes?

    Thanks For Your Help
    WB

    Hello William,

    The correct template is [ExternalTemplates]\Sitefinity\Admin\ControlTemplates\Blogs\Modes\ListPageDetail.ascx

You can map the template directly through the control designer - Appearace >> SingleItemTemplatePath property. Another option is though the Control Designer

    All the best,

Hi thanks for the response.  We do not have a folder called Modes.

    [ExternalTemplates]\Sitefinity\Admin\ControlTemplates\Blogs\Modes\ListPageDetail.ascx

What do you mean by [ExternalTemplates] above?

    Hello William,

You could take a look at How to map a template. Since 3.6 all templates are external, so you should use a template from the external templates archive that we provide for download.

I am too trying to edit the blog template file although I don't have any ascx files in the blog folders and am at a loss as to where the external templates archive is.

I am using Sitefinity 3.7CE, all I want to do is alter the layout to the blog posts templates and have no idea where to start as I have no base of reference. Why is everything made so difficult when it doesn't have to be that way.

Also you still haven't explained the [ExternalTemplates] thing that you keep putting in file paths on various posts.

    Hello Owain,

I suggest that you should go to through the article from the previous post. The external templates should be available for downloading from your account >> downloads section.

    Kind regards,
