    Hi,

Just wondering if telerik are looking at deployment methods on Amazon's EC2 windows platform that's about to be released.

Would be great to see a preconfigured AMI image!

The cloud computing stuff is really starting to takeoff would be great to see telerik moving Sitefinity so it could be configured in this way.

    Cheers,
    Chris

    Hey Chris,

It's a good thought.  I've not personally heard anything definite on this.  However, Telerik's new ORM certainly opens up some interesting options on this front:

    Hello,

To answer your question directly - we still do not have any plans for such a deployment. But one thing - we are always open for new suggestions. If you could elaborate on this and why it is important, what are the pros and cons, we will greatly appreciate it!
And, as our friend Gabe told, a door to a whole new world is now opened :)

Has anyone attempted using Sitefinity on Amazon EC2 or Mossimo to date?

    Hi Brook,

We are not aware if that happened, but will appreciate any case studies or information on this.

Right been monitoring this closely since starting the thread i've managed to get a Windows Server with SQL Server up and running very easily on the EC2 cloud.  It's just like using a normal server once you've set it all up in web console.

The fun part for comes in this form:  We have servers with rapidswitch.com that host our normal sites, and to be honest with 4TB of bandwidth included (we only use about 500GB) we havent got any plans on moving as there a good company and uk based.  Now the problem with that is DR and all your eggs in one basket as a collegue once put it.

What i've been investigating is booting a amazon EC2 servers every 4 hours programatically and replicating the data from either SQL Server directly and rsych then shutting it down once it finishes.  I've also been looking at the Sitefinity API to see if it's any help at doing this.  Version 4 also says it might have a "staging tool" that might help in the future.

As for for mossmo i've looked at it quite a bit and i'd think it'd work well with sitefinity but you'd need to set it up in webfarm/cluster mode because of the way mosso works (documented in the knowledge base).  The one thing to watch out for is you don't have Remote Desktop to the server(s) in question so if you need to do any advanced config, it's submit a support ticket etc.

I'll be honest I think moving forward the amazon EC2 route is the better option, theres another company FlexiScale that we used to have our main servers with but they've had a host of implementation issues and we've lost data so i'd avoid going with the "cheaper" providers until they are proven technologies.

    Hope this helps.
    Chris

    Hello Chris Bond,

Thanks for your wonderful reply. It's good to know you managed to run Windows and SQL server on Amazon EC2.
As for the 4.0 version, yes, there will be a service that could synchronize your staging and live server. We will use web services for that purpose. This will make the synchronization effortless in regards to the SQL jobs and replication. You will simply not need to do that anymore :)

I have a client who is considering going with Missimo. If he opts to try it I will definitely let the community know the results.

So FYI - I have a site up and running on Mosso. The only issue I am having is the Newsletters do not work.  The dynamic generation of the WebServices does not play well with the load balancers.  If you can live with out that then it is working without issue.
