I wanted to create a list inside of sitefinity, for example, a list of employees.  At the same time I wanted to create an external page, a page that would reside inside of my project but outside of sitefinity to call on this information.  Could someone show me or give me an example of how this would work?  I know I would need to import the various Sitefinity objects, but I want to extract the data and provide my own display logic.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hello Dishea Cain,

You can create a  web service in Sitefinity and call it to execute your logic from the external page.

I assume this is not the best way to achieve what I'm trying to do.  I have been trying to find the best way to setup for custom data input/output.  I have specific areas on my site that I want to allow for custom data entry, for instance, employee information.  I want to display this data on the front end with my own custom implementation and display logic.  What is the best way to do this?  Should I create my own user controls or create custom modules?  Can you provide any good examples/tutorials of creating a very simple custom module.

    Thanks

    Also,

I was following this video tutorial on how to add custom fields/properties and metadata.  In the example is says to navigate to Admin->Control Templates->Events, but when I navigate to this folder in my sitefinity installation I don't see the add and edit pages that they are talking about in the video.  Any ideas?

You have to map the ExternalTemplates - How to map an external template

Yes here are several links that you can check about custom modules
