Can we "compact" the SQL Server database that SF uses to store it's data.

This database must hold version differences/history - can we purge this database?  Would help when you switch from testing to production site -- rip out the crap in the DB before go-live.

Note: I am not talking about SQL database shrinking.

    Hello Harvey,

I am not sure I understand correctly. Do you want to delete all versions that were created during development, so that they don't appear when the site hits public?

While there is no such feature, you can always delete the unnecessary information through MSSQL Management Studio.

If you want to disable history, you can follow the process described in the User Manual: Working With Web Pages/Page History.

On a side note, you have probably seen the Kb Article How to reduce the project database size.

    All the best,
    Dido

    Hi Harvey,

I just follow up to suggest you, to backup your database before any operations from this kind. It is always good to have a backup in case something goes wrong.

    Best wishes,
