    Hi,

Does Sitifinity allow to set content start and end validity dates?
If so, does Sitefinity send any kind of alert (ex:email) when the expiration date approaches?
    Many thanks,

    JMI

    Hello Jon Mikel Inza,

Events module supports Publication and Expiration date as a metakeys.  As for the notification : You can subscribe for Application_Start of your Global.asax and and ContentManager.Executed handler. Then you will have access to the content item objects. You need to create a new instance of EventsManager and loop through each content item and use GetMetaData method to get the value of Expiration_Date. Afterwards you could compare the Expiration_Date with DateTime. Now and if DataTime. Now is greater than IContent Expiration_Date you can send an email message. Note that the send email logic will be executed only on a request to your website. Othwerwise you need to implement some ticker.

We will have buil it schdeuled services from Sitefinity 4.0.

    Hello Ivan,

    Thank you for your answer.

Do you know if content validity start and end dates will be integrated in a more user friendly manner in future Sitefinity releases?
Does the metadata contain a "Start Date" item besides the "Expriation Date"?

    Is the Sitefinity roadmap public?

Thank you again for your time.

    Sincerely,

    Jon Mikel Inza

    Hi Jon Mikel Inza,

Here is a link to our public roadmap. It contains only major features. Currently we have not started working on the "helper" controls that will be used in the modules and I am not able to give you an answer how the Expiration and Start dates will be configured. I believe that we will extend the public part shortly, so you can see more of the new features in Sitefinity 4.0.
