1: Latest News (RSS or not)
There is a News List control that can be tweaked to show for example the latest 5 news. The same goes for the RSS feeds. Both News List and RSS can be modified to show only the desired information.
2: Basic Forms plug-in
If you are talking about Forms where the user inputs some information, any forms that are created with Visual Studio as a user control can be used on web pages when uploaded in the Sitefinity Control Toolbox. There is no limitation to the number of fields a form could contain.
If you are talking about Windows Forms authentication, Sitefinity uses all advantages of .NET 2.0 Framework, so Windows Forms authentication is supported out of the box.
3: Calendar component
In our latest release of Sitefinity, we have implemented an Events module where the users can create events using Telerik's RadCalendar
. These two controls, as well as the rest of RadControls Prometheus
are shipped along with Sitefinity, so basically you can create rich-multimedia pages, using the RadControls.
4: Any kind of Employee Directory
I'm not really sure what you mean. We have a sample module, demonstrating how everyone can built his own module for Sitefinity, named Jobs Intra Site
. It allows you to add as many people as you wish, assigning to them specific information such as job position and so on. You could also take a look at another Demo module, named Contacts Module
. We will be glad to provide a more detailed answer if you elaborate a little more on what exactly you mean by "Employee Directory".
5: Restricted content areas
Sitefinity has a solid security model. It is based on User Roles and Permissions. Different Roles can have permission for different content, and Yes, there could be areas that might be restricted for some roles. The Sitefinity Administration partscould also be restricted at the Roles level.
We suggest you check our videos which are a great online resource showing how to work and develop with Sitefinity. You could find them here
