    Hi there

    I was looking for a testserver envirement and fount godaddy which has unlimed SQL Database in one of it's plans 14 USD / month. So I thought I give it a try but have not been able to get sitefinity CE running

    I think I followed all the advice found on sitefinity.com

    Espessially http://www.sitefinity.com/support/forums/sitefinity-3-x/deployment/simulate-in-development-environment-medium-trust.aspx#507841
     and

    http://www.sitefinity.com/support/kb/sitefinity-3-x/godaddy-asp-net-hosting-provider.aspx

    When setting trust to medium in config file I get this error:

    This configuration section cannot be used at this path.  This happens when the site administrator has locked access to this section using <location allowOverride="false"> from an inherited configuration file.

    Here are my questions

    a) is it possible to get it running and if yes what am I missing
    b) is workflow still not possible on godaddy shared hosting
    c) any recomendation for cheap hoster for sitefinity demo applications just for testing

    Regards Markus

    Hello Markus Berchtold,

    a) is it possible to get it running and if yes what am I missing

    The host has set the trust level in machine.config and it cannot be overridden. You could try removing the trust level node from your web.config, since it is set to the server by default.

    b) is workflow still not possible on godaddy shared hosting

    Workflow is not supported under MediumTrust

    c) any recomendation for cheap hoster for sitefinity demo applications just for testing

    You can give a try to http://www.discountasp.net/sp_sitefinityhosting.aspx

    All the best,

    Dear Ivan

    Thanks for the quick response.

    a) after removing the trust line in web.config the site is running now. Strange enough I am positive I did get an error befor when I did not have it and therefore put it in. However this seems ok now. Strange but OK.

    But as with problems, you solve one and you get a new one. When I sign in I get the following error

    on http://sitefinityce.mytestserver.net/sitefinityce/Sitefinity/Admin/Default.aspx

    Database needs to be upgraded

     foreach (IWebModule module in ModuleManager.GetWebModulesValues())
    Line 268:            {
    Line 269:                if (module is SecuredModule && ((SecuredModule)module).CanCreate())
    Line 270:                    webModules.Add(module);
    Line 271:            }

    b) Thanks for the answer on this matter

    c) I did look at them of course because you recomend them on your site. but it seems the cost would be 10$/month for hosting and 10$/month for each sql db. Thats why I was looking at GoDaddy.

    Questions

    a) any idea about the database update error?
    c) I will check out softsys hosting, they seem to be less expensive.
    Regards Markus

    Hi Markus Berchtold,

    "Database needs to be upgraded "
     - compare the versions of your local and sever database. This issue seems to be a problem with the host, since the project runs fine on your local host.

    Kind regards,

    Mytestserver.net is a regular domain with goDaddy :-)

    I just named the domain that way so I could remember it easy ;-)

    Just wanted to tell you that I moved the testsites to www.softsyshosting.com

    Set up of both Community and Standard Edtions was painless. Just needed to write to support that I needed Full Trust on the webs wich was granted within 15 Minutes (I am in Switzerland so they had no working hours)

    Hade some additional questions regarding hosting. They all were answered competent and very fast.

    It seems the support at www.softsyshosing.com is as good as the support of telerik and you know thats a compliment ;-)

    I think teleriks recomandation for this provider ist very good.

    Regards Markus
