Is there a way to link to existing pages by selecting the pages from some sort of list, rather than having to type in the page name correctly?

    TIA

    Hi Tom,

Select a page from the Page Site Map. Click “View live page in a new window” link and you will be navigated to the selected page; it is not necessary to type the URL of the page in the browser. This link is on the same level with “Edit this page” button.

Also you have a "Preview" button in the grid with all pages.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards,

    Pepi,

I might not have made my question clear enough.

When I'm editing the text content on a page, I want to create a LINK within the content to go to another existing page on the site and wondered whether there is a way to "browse" to the page, or select the page from a "site map", rather than type in the name of the page?

    Thanks

    Tom

    Hello Tom,

I am sorry for the misunderstanding. You can use Dynamic Hyper Link or Hyper Link to navigate to another page. These two controls are in the Navigation section of the toolbox and gives the opportunity to select the page from the Site Map. If you are using Hyperlink Manager of RadEditor, there is no way to avoid typing the URL.
In Sitefinity versions prior to 3.0 we had a custom implementation that allowed creating site links, that is, the editor control on its own does not support site links. We are definitely going to put this feature back in soon.

Hope this time information is useful.

    All the best,

    Two questions:

    1. Do you have an ETA for when you will be putting this feature (selecting page from Site Map for linking) back into Sitefinity? We really want to be able to easily add links from the content editor so this feature is eagerly awaited.

    2. Will the feature work like the Dynamic Hyper Link control where the referenced page can be moved or renamed and the original link will remain valid? We have numerous content editors and the regular Hyper Link control doesn't work very well for us since links break if the referenced page is moved.

    Thanks,

    Hi Jennifer,

It is still not scheduled when we will put this feature back. Most probably it will not be for version 3.1 because we are waiting for the new RadEditor control. That is why the functional specification and implementation details for this issue are still not discussed.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

    Best wishes,

    Hello,

I would also like to add a comment to stress how important the "site link" feature within the RadEditor is to the user community.

Looking forward to seeing it implemented again.

    Cheers,

    Hi Kevin,

We understand how important the “site link” feature is and I can assure you that we have plans to implement it for some of the upcoming releases.

Your feedback on this matter is highly appreciated.

I Would like to include my feedback on how important this feature is.

My company doesnt use sitefinity for ourselves, we use it to make websites for our clients.   Our clients are not always very "Web savy", and teaching them about making links from urls, especially when they should be relative urls is not always very easy, and not to mention it is time consuming and cumbersome.

Ideally this feature would allow for keeping track of urls so that if a page was moved around the link would not break.  However I realise that this would be pretty difficult to achieve, and this is a problem we have had to deal with in almost every cms system we have ever used.

At this point, even if you cant guarantee that links will not be broken, I would accept that, but we need some way to create an inline content link to pages within the site, without having to manually look up the url.

I really hope this makes it in for the 3.2 release that is scheduled soon.

    Hi viscious,

We absolutely agree with you that this feature is very important. However, as the prospects for including it in the January release are not very bright, we promise we'll try our best to provide it earlier than the release of v4.0, scheduled for June.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

I wouldn't think this would be too bad assuming that the stored links are based on the page's Guid, and not the "page url".

Certainly we would want the Guid's translated to the "page url" before page renders, but as long as the stored link is tied to the Guid you should be able to move the page all over the place with no negative impact.

Removing the page entirely is a bit tricky though.  I suppose, in that case, the "dynamic link" should become a non-link.  Or perhaps an "Admin Warning Message" could be generated?

    Hi Gabe,

Thanks a lot for the idea to notify when a given page is deleted from the site map. The suggestion is logged in our bug tracking system.

Has this been implemented in 3.2?  If so, which parts ended up being implemented?  Thanks.
