    Hi,
    We are using sitefinity 3.6 for development. I have created a video gallery via custom library in Image & documents module and  uploaded .flv files. I am trying to play the flv files by emebeding javascript but it is not playing.
    By using api i am getting uploaded files path like URLWithExtension and passing to the javascript.
    Since the URLWithExtenstion coming with .sflb, it is not playing.

    Please give a suggestions to play .flv files uploaded via custom library.

    Thanks,
    Karnan

    Hi karnan sekar,

    I am not exactly if the problem is with the extension, or the path. Could you please make sure that the flash player will read the flv.sflb contents? Anyway, you can try to enable the real file extensions like shown in the KB article - How to use real file extensions for Library items. You can also check the following forum post:

    Hi Georgi,
    I will tell you exact requirement.  We could upload the .flv files using images and documents modules. But the problem is with displaying those video files as a gallery. I want to know how to run the .flv files in a player.

    Is there any in build sitefinity player to play those video, ie the .flv files.

    Thanks,

    Karnan

    Hello Siby,

    Please check the following post - http://www.sitefinity.com/support/forums/sitefinity-3-x/bugs-issues/media-player-with-images-documents-module.aspx

    In it, the customer is trying to do the same. He is using the API to extract the file path and pass it to a player, or embed it directly on the page. I guess that you should pass the URL to a player.

    Hi Georgi,

    I referred the URL from previous post. I have used the same way to play .flv files,
    but it is working now.

    Code for your reference:

    string strVideoid = Request.QueryString["vid"].ToString();
    Guid guid = new Guid(strVideoid);
    LibraryManager lManager = new LibraryManager();
    IContent cntVideo = lManager.GetContent(guid);
    string strFilename = cntVideo.Url.ToString().Replace("~", "") + ".sflb";
    StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder();
    sb.Append("<object classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" codebase=\"http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,0,0\" width=\"754\" height=\"605\" id=\"Object1\" align=\"middle\">");
                    sb.Append("<param name=\"allowScriptAccess\" value=\"sameDomain\" />");
                    sb.Append("<param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"false\" />");
                    sb.Append("<param name=\"movie\" value=\"/Flash/videoPlayer.swf?filename=" + strFilename + "\" />");
                    sb.Append("<param name=\"quality\" value=\"high\" /><param name=\"bgcolor\" value=\"#ffffff\" />");
                    sb.Append("<embed src=\"/Flash/videoPlayer.swf?filename=" + strFilename + "\" quality=\"high\" bgcolor=\"#ffffff\" width=\"754\" height=\"605\" name=\"videoPlayer\" align=\"middle\" allowScriptAccess=\"sameDomain\" allowFullScreen=\"false\" type=\"application/x-shockwave-flash\" pluginspage=\"http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer\" />");
                    sb.Append("</object>");
                    litFlash.Text = sb.ToString();

    Thanks,
    Karnan

    Hi Georgi,

    Thank you so much :). Yes We have a question for you. Currently We are developing a Arabic website, We have a problem in display date. Since Sitefinity is showing the date in English format, We need to display the date in Arabic.
    Please give your suggestions.

    Thanks,
    Karnan

    Hi karnan sekar,

    Could you please let me know about the target format of the date, and where exactly (which templates) you want to show it?
    I will follow up with a suggestion after that.

    Sincerely yours,
    Georgi

    Hello karnan sekar,

    The only way I could come up with is the following:

    1. It is too late to format the dates in the Grid (in list view), since the dates come as plain values.
    2. We had to format the dates at earlier stage, so they appear in the same format everywhere.

    You can add a new metafield for the Created field, and hide the default field. In your custom metafield you could enter the date in any format (or format it automatically on save). Adding a custom MetaField is described in the User Manual.

    I hope this helps.

    Sincerely yours,
    Georgi

    Hi Georgi,

    Since i have used custom user control to display the image gallery and video gallery. I have used

    System.Threading.Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture = new CultureInfo("ar-QA");

    to convert the date format in a grid. So It is working :).

    Thanks,
    Karnan
