    Hi there,

We're looking to add CMS functionality into our existing .Net 3.5 application -- we are looking for CMS functionality functionality without re-architecting the solution -- could Sitefinity 3.x help?   or other solutions?  We currently use master pages and themes ... there will be many pages that consist of functionality and content... where content will need to be updated by CMS.

    Thanks,

    Dave

SiteFinity uses the same masterpages as your regular application.  So you can share the master pages with your web pages.  Furthermore, if you need to put information from the CMS into your web pages, you can use the API.  I am going to do some more investigation of this as I need to integrate SiteFinity with an ASP.NET MVC application.  I'll try to post my findings when I do.

    Hello David,

I believe you can use Sitefinity 3.x for this scenario. Trevor is right for the templates and the masterpages. When you begin the integration, please pay attention to the web.config inheritance. It is possible that the child application inherits the settings from the parent configuration file.

    Kind regards,
    Georgi

Is there further information somewhere about using he API to integrate Sitefinity into an existing web site? I'm dealing with the same scenario and this thread didn't seem to go anywhere. :)

    Hi Nicholas Westbrook,

You can take a look at our developer manual - SitefinityDeveloperManual_Aricles_v3_6.chm for the API reference. Generally there is not straightforward  way to migrate an existing website, because each case is different. Sitefinity follows the structure of standard asp.net web application and supports all server controls (web parts are not supported )that comes from .NET Framwork.

I'll check that out... We're not looking to migrate, looking to integrate. We want to keep the existing site as is, just add some controls that allow users to change content in certain areas.

    Thanks
