Hello everyone--I'm just installing Sitefinity today to see what it offers--my experience is all in desktop and traditional fat client C/S development.

First impression: was a bit worried about whether Sitefinity is keeping up to date: the install guide mentions VS2005 rather than VS2008, and getting Vista IIS7 to act like IIS6. But I see the post indicating a version 4 due this spring.

Anyone want to comment on the Lulu book Sitefinity Made Easy? http://www.lulu.com/content/3959109 Worth getting, or should I stick with the telerik documentation to start?

Is there a beta program for Sitefinity 4.0? If so, should I apply to that rather than learning version 3.5?

Other than forums here--any other references/support sites on the web I should know about for learning Sitefinity?

Any other pointers for how to proceed gladly accepted.

    Thanks all,
    bob

    Hello Robert,

Thank you for using our services.

Thank you for your feedback. I agree that our documentation needs to be improved. We started working on it and a lot of changes for 3.5 and 3.6 will be described in details. You can use IIS 7 with Sitefinity in Integrated mode, and it is not necessary to make it acts as IIS6. As for the book, generally it is prepared for the end users, it represents the User Manaual in a lot of aspects. It is an edition for business users, rather than developers.
Beta version of Sitefinity 4.0 will be available. If you want we could add you to our list for beta testers. Here are some useful links from where you can gather information ( new implementations, workarounds, news and so on) about Sitefinity.
