    @Ivan

Is this a typo or was the beta delayed?

    Hello Martin Meixger,

There is not a typo. Our plans for the beta release are for May-June. We will try to release the beta earlier if we could. We are ready with the alpha, so we start working on the beta.

    Kind regards,
    Ivan Dimitrov

    Hi all,

This is to let you know that the Sitefinity Beta Release is now officially scheduled for the middle of April.

We apologize for the conflicting messages issued previously. We needed some time after the Alpha release to sit down and update our plans.

The official 4.0 release is tentatively scheduled for the middle of the year. We will have an exact date for you after the release of Beta. At that moment an assessment of all remaining tasks will be don in order to provide a precise estimation.

    Best Regards,
    Kalina

    Dear Kalini

If the beta should realy be available at the end of April how soon would you (conservativaly speaking) expact the product to be released to the public?

How stable has the alpha been in your eyes

Is it possible to start working with a beta version and then upgrade to the final 4.0 version.

    *************

I am asking because I have a project with a deadline end of June and of course would love to start with 4.0 to save me the trouble of upgrading.

    Regards Markus

    Hello Markus,

We expect the official release to come out approximately 3 months after the Beta.
We will have a more exact estimate at the time of the Beta release.

That said, it would be better if you develop your project on v. 3.7.
Thus, you would not risk any delays.

Let me know if I can be of further help.

    All the best,
    Kalina

    Hi, Kalina.

Is there a list of new features and modules for 4.0 available for us to see?  This knowledge would help my company make a decision on what CMS product to purchase.

I saw a post a while back about a possible commerce module, but it hasn't been confirmed in the roadmap, so I am skeptical of that to be released or even in the alpha.

    Hello Sean Haddy,

There will be Forms Builder out of the box, coming with API of course and Analytics module as well. E-commerce will come in later releases, after 4.0.

Will Sitefinity 4 utilize .NET 4? We're early adopters of MVC 2 (Highly Recommend) but are unable to use it in conjuction with Sitefinity 3 ( unless I am missing something, let me know if anyone has gotten 3 to run in an ASP.NET 4 App Pool).

    Hello Joseph,

Sitefinity 4.0 will support .NET 4.0. The 3.x versions of Sitefinity support only .NET 2.0 and .NET 3.5.n Sitefinity 4.0 will not support MVC.

    Best wishes,

I've had some success getting MVC 1 apps in as virtual directories in 3.x, so I'm pretty confident I'll be able to find a way to continue that practice in 4.

    Hello Joseph,

Thanks for getting back to me.

It's good to hear that you have managed to make some integration. I hope that the support for .NET 4.0 will solve some of the issues that you have. The 4.0 beta is almost ready and we will be able to release it within a week or two.

Will the 4.0 version also be backwards compatible with controls written for 3.x?

    Hello Daniel,

The 4.0 will use wrappers to make the 3.x code working, but we could not ensure that custom code will work properly.

    Hey there Telerik guys,

I think what cesare was trying to ask about pricing is whether or not you guys are going to launch 4.0 with a new pricing model as suggested in the post he referred to?

    Hi payam,

The BETA is rescheduled for the middle of August, beginning of the September. So far there is no certain date that we can announce due to many code changes and new features that we are adding. We have added some features that came from UsersVoice, so this results in more hours of development.

    Kind regards,

    Dear Ivan

Thanks for your feedback. I support Telerik all the way an the pushback of the release date. I stated this many times. 3.7 SP3 is a good product and has no urgent need to be replaced.

So please take your time and release the best SF ever.

You mentioned that you are listening to sitefinity.uservoice.com and I think thats great. (I don't say that only because I wish for many things there) but community/user involvement in a early stage seems to me very important.

When you are not to far down the read there is still room for new directions/ideas.

So for that reason I do hope that you will release another CTP soon. I don't care how much stuff works there if it's alpha or beta or just a CTP. But I would love to be involved in the process of building the next best CMS on the market.

So please as soon as you have another CTP that has some new featurs let us have it so we can play with it and provide feedback.

Thanks for all the great support and that you are listening to us.

    Markus

The date just keeps on shifting. Can you please bed down the functionality and timeline, we also need to plan new implementations/upgrades, and it is making it very difficult.
