    Hello,

My understanding is that I can write a custom module to redirect incoming shorter links based on virtual directories, such as ~/shortname to the actual page at ~/longpage.aspx or ~/shortname/longpage.aspx

The question is whether or not I can establish redirection such as this within Sitefinity.

I am aware of the fact that I can use the URL rewrite to redirect from ~/anything to ~anywhere, but I am looking for a solution that does not involve changes of or coding in web.config.

I thought that I could create a page and then just add a custom URL, that instead of ~/alternativename.aspx would say /shortname, but this method does not work and when I do this, I get a 404 error when hitting ~/shortname.

Could you please let me know if I can create virtual links such as ~/shortname for pages within Sitefinity?

    I have Sitefinity 3.5.

    Thank you.

    Hi Dmitry Shesterin,

    1. There is page properties section Page Urls  where you can define additional urls for a given page. When you add an additional url you can open a given page by making request to the additional url or generated by the CMS url. No matter which link you will use the same page will open. If you want to use links without extension - ".aspx" as described you should enable extensionless Urls feature. For more information check the UserManual and Installation guide for the version you use.

For setting extensionless urls in 3.7 versions you could take a look at our UserManual, Extensionless Urls, page 199

    All the best,

    Thank you Ivan,

This addresses it beautifully. One question though, I am running 3.5, the manual is for 3.7. Is this feature available in 3.5?

    Hello Dmitry Shesterin,

You could take a look at the attached document. You could also check the manual for 3.7 because the settings are almost the same.

    Sincerely yours,
