    Hi,

I'm currently evaluating Sitefinity, I've been running it in a development server for a couple of days now and so far I haven't encountered any major issues. It's a really good CMS.

One thing that I just noticed is that the page are quite heavy as some scripts and resources (.axd) are loaded automatically. For example: the homepage size is now 740k compared to 165k on our current site (4.5x as much) - with the same template, styles, and images. I also don't use any special controls on the page, only the standard generic content containers (x3) and a site menu.

I don't see why these scripts are needed. Is there anyway to disable them? Or perhaps specify which ones to load? My goal is to create 'lean' pages so the site loads up faster.

    Kind Regards.

    Hi Herdy Handoko,

Thank you for using our services.

The issue is comming by the fact that you do not use the script manager controls on your master pages to handle script combining so that you minimize the amount of the scripts loaded. Since we heavily use the RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX within Sitefinity controls the browsers make script loading requests for each control that they have to render, instead of loading the scripts at once. This is why the page size gets a little bit bulky.

All AJAX controls need a script manager on the master page to work. Now you can take a look at the following documentation page on how to utilize the RadScriptManager control on your master page in order to load less scripts on page loads.

    Kind regards,

    Thanks Radoslav,

I've read and followed the documentation. The scripts are now combined and GZipped (93k from 407k uncompressed). Pagesize is down to 280k. Not too bad... :)

Any other tips to bring this down even further?

    Kind Regards.
