    Hi,

I'm trying to work out the best way for the site I'm developing to host videos which will be promoting local businesses etc.

I can't use Viddler as they prohibit commercial (ie. promoting, selling etc) videos, so it looks like S3 is the way to go.  I noticed in the tutorial that you have to change the library provider within the web.config file to use the S3 route.

I'm just wondering what impact that will have on my now almost complete site?  Will it mean I have to reimport all images, documents etc - or can Sitefinity use both providers side by side (ie. just use S3 for Video?).

    Any advice much appreciated!

    Tony

    Hi Tony Bolton,

Thank you for using our services.

The Viddler data provider is can be used together with the other library provider. However the amazon one has to be used by itself. You will have to turn off the default provider and re-upload the images and documents to the amazon provider.

    All the best,

    Hi,
I too am interested in using S3 for Video, but I have too many images etc. using existing Libraries.  Are they any plans to allow S3 usage while keeping existing default provider functionality?

    Hello Maxie Baldeo,

Thank you for joining the conversation.

There are no plans to extend the current functionality of the Images and Documents module in Sitefinity 3.x. As we are close to releasing a new major version of the product (Sitefinity 4.0) we have decided to stop feature development for 3.x versions.

    Best wishes,

    Hi Radoslav,
Thanks for a speedy response.  Does this mean that is Ver 4.0 I will be able to use default Provider some documents and images AND S3 for video?  I am about to start experimenting with Ver 4.0 and look forward to upgrading, so I hope Ver 4.0 will aloow this.

    Maxi

    Hello Maxie,

We will not have external providers like Amazon S# and Viddler for the official release of Sitefinity 4.0. We will implement them on a later stage.
