    Hello,

I'd like to ask if news categories will be included in the service pack of sitefinity 3. It would be great to work like lists and be able to have multiple categories on different or same pages.

    Best regards

    Vangelis

    Hi Vagelis Kretsimos,

Unfortunately, news categories will be implemented for the next release, not for the Service Pack. The idea of the hotfix is to make product more stable. That’s why we are not adding new functionality except for the Multilingual support for pages.

    Thanks for your understanding.

    Best wishes,

    Hi Pepi,

Thanks for the reply. I understand your point of view about what will be included in hotfix release.  In next release 3.1 will  it be included  news categories? I ask this since  all  sites I have to  move from old  cms to  sitefinity have  this  functionality and news are organized  per category.  Since it's very common  small  delays on  final release date  I'm little anxious about this, since  half of the content  cannot be transfered on time. If you have  a  date for 3.1 will it be great.

    Best regards

    Vagelis

    Hi Rebecca,

Since generic content now has no categories all of the these will be converted to a general category on new release?

    Best regards

    Hi Vagelis Kretsimos,

We are not sure we understand your question correctly, but if you are asking about the possibility to organize content items that already exist in categories, the answer is yes, you will be able to do so once categories are implemented.

    All the best,

Will categories and tags be implemented for Lists even though they do note inherit from Generic Content?

    Sincerely,

    Hi Ben,

Categories and Tags will be implemented only for the modules inheriting Generic Content - News, Blogs and respectively Generic Content.

    I see.

Is there a way to create a duplicate of the Lists module and call it something else like New_Lists?

    Sincerely,

    Ben

    Hello Ben,

It is not a problem to duplicate Lists module. We could provide you with the source code if you need it.
