    Hi,

I search almost everywhere but I did not find any question or answers.

Is it possible to have 1 news item in multiple categories?

    Hi Marko Gluhak,

It is not possible to have 1 item in more than one category out of the box. You can create a custom metakey that will act in the same way as the default Category field and use it. You can take a look at UserManual , page 214 - Custom Fields

    Sincerely yours,

Thaks for reply but I think that is not what I need.

    Real situation.
Lets say I have portal for sport. I have home page that displays news from all categories. I also have 1 page for every sport type (categires) where news are filtered by that category (for example box). But some news are related to many sport types (for example karate, tae kwon do and judo).

My question is how to setup news that will be displayed on home page, karate page, tae kwon do page and judo page?

    Thanx

    Hi Marko Gluhak,

You asked whether you can assign more than one category to a given content item. The answer is - you can't. You cannot have to values for the same metakey. You need a custom metakey to do this. Using the additional custom metakey will allow you  to filter the controls by it. More complex solution will require to create a field where you enter all relations and then display the proper items. You can filter the content by using  IMetaSearchInfo filter so that you can return items that have been categorized/belongs to your custom metakeys.

    Best wishes,

    So to sumarize,

In my example I'll need to have as many custom metakeys as I have sport types and then check particular metakeys?

    or

Have 1 metakey where I will enter for example "karate, judo" and then make some custom control for displaing proper items?

    Hello Marko Gluhak,

Yes you can have one metakey of type string where you store the values and then split them or using multiple metakeys.
