    Hi,

When I click on a page in the Site Map, and click 'duplicate' from the options displayed below the sitemap, the page is not duplicating correctly.
It appears to duplicate the page, as the properties screen is displayed and the page name then has _copy1 appended to it. If i click save, the next screen to show asks me to choose a template. I am unsure why the choose a template screen even shows? After choosing a template and saving, it takes me to the add controls screen. After hitting save again it reverts back to the newly copied page, but has no data in it at all, Only the page structure of a newly created page.

    Thanks.

    Hello Nick,

When you duplicate a page, the new page becomes with status New, and then if you click Save Changes button in the Properties tab, it redirects you to the Edit Page mode, which is the only one place you could publish the page. It's not necessary to change anything in the Edit Page mode (choosing template, adding controls, etc), because the all the page content is duplicated from the source page. You just have to click the Publish button to publish the page, or Cancel Changes - to leave the page in its current state (New). This is the proper behavior of the "Duplicate page" implementation.

Hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if we are missing something.

    Hi Vlad,

The page I was working on was not a published page, but still in draft mode. If I attempt to duplicate the page, it just creates a new page. Are you saying that a page can only be duplicated if it is a published page?

If this is so, it makes it very dificult to use the workflow feature.
I will explain our process as we use workflow. We have a user who:

    - creates pages, once ready, he sets the pages for approval so it can be checked by someone else.
    - In creating pages, he needs to duplicate some pages and their content to save time
    - When he duplicates, all it does is creates a new page copy with no content or template etc.
    - We have found that if a user with permissions, first publishes a page, then the page can be duplicated.
    - This destroys the workflow process.

Is there anyway to duplicate a page that has not been published?

    Thanks.

    Hi Nick,

Thank you for the additional information.

Please excuse us for we omitted the possibility that you could use Workflow, and so we didn't manage to reproduce your problem in our previous post. You are right: obviously this is not the expected behavior of the Duplicate Page feature - seems this is a bug when using the Workflow feature. We will fix it for the upcoming release.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused and thank you for reporting this issue. We updated your Telerik points accordingly.

    Greetings,
    Vlad
