    Hi,

    I try on Vista Business (IIS7) to create a new project and I get a permission error. I have given to almost all accounts full access to the folder  'C:\Program Files\telerik\Sitefinity3.0\WebSites'  with no result.

    Any help will be appreciated

    Access to the path 'C:\Program Files\telerik\Sitefinity3.0\WebSites\myproject' is denied.
    The project will be created in 'C:\Program Files\telerik\Sitefinity3.0\WebSites' folder.

    Best regards

    Hi Vagelis,

    Have you tried giving the Network Service account Full permissions to the C:\Program Files\telerik\Sitefinity3.0\WebSites\ folder?  In windows Vista the IIS7  ASP.Net account  runs under this account?  Also you will need to ensure that you have given the account that you are logging in as full account permissions too.

    I am sure that is all I did.

    Regards
    Sean

    Hello Sean,

    Thanks for your reply. I've unistalled sitefinity, deleted all folders and started a new installation. I change the default application pool to classic and I gave to websites folder my account and network service all rights with no result.

    Any other idea? It was working till a week before. I only setup a full sql2005 developer install and a visual studio 2005 install. I had SQL express before. I don't think that any of these cause any problem.

    Any other suggestion

    Best regards

    Now after reinstall of Sitefinity and setting permissions to my account and Netwotk service when I try to create a new project it doesn't display immediately a permission denied error.

    Watching on windows explorer I can see the project creating, copying all folders from sample project but while ending I have a
    Access is denied. and folders are deleted with no other message. This is more strange than before.

    Any help or suggestion is very very much appreciated.

    Best regards

    Hi Vagelis,

    I had this same issue before actually, and yes you can see it create the files.  My theory then is it isn't anything to do with File permissions but rather for IIS permissions.  I think it is failing to create the IIS web application.  There are different classes for IIS7 to create virtual directories I think.  Telerik will have to change the project manager to handle IIS7 correctly.

    I would say you can do 2 things, maybe try disable User Account Control in windows,(I don't know if it will work but it is worth a try) you can google how to do this.

    Or you can manually create the project by copying the Empty Project folder and manually setting up a virtual directory under IIS (I did it this way).  There is another thread that discusses this:

    http://www.sitefinity.com/support/forums/support-forum-thread/b1043S-gecee.aspx

    Setting up a Script Handler is different under IIS7 though.  If you need help with this let me know...

    Hi Sean,

    I finally did copied the empty project, add it at projects.xml , created the application in IIS7 and it worked. There is actually a problem with template editing since it's not so simple on IIS7 like IIS6.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Vagelis,

    Glad to have helped.  Actually it is a lot easier to add the template handler in IIS7 than you think... in IIS7 the IIS Manager actually adds the handler definitions straight into the web.config of the application.

    So all you need to do is add this code to the bottom of your web.config inside the <configuration> tag:

     <system.webServer>
            <handlers>
                <add name="Template Handler Factory" path="*.template" verb="*" modules="IsapiModule" scriptProcessor="%windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_isapi.dll" resourceType="Unspecified" />
            </handlers>
        </system.webServer>

    Cheers
    Sean

    Hi,

    I'm having this same issue, except that I do not see any folder or files created.  I have checked the permissions on the WebSites folder and all seems to be correct.

    I am running Vista Ultimate

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Hi csharper,

    So far on Vista I have only been able to  set up the project manually .  There hasn't been any mention as far as I am aware, of being able to successfully create projects in Vista yet using the project Manager.  Hopefully Telerik will address this at some point in the future, but in the meantime creating them manually isn't all that difficult, just inconvenient.

    So if you use the thread I linked to and this one you should be able to set up a project manually,  it is just a case of copying the files, creating a virtual directory and then setting up the script handlers for the .tempate and .rss file mappings.
