We are in the process of evaluating Sitefinity for use on our University website We have been using the R.A.D. controls for years, and like those, Sitefinity seems to be a great product.

One of our requirements is that we be able to render Sitefinity content to an external website. For example, we have a campus web portal that contains channels. We would like to be able to render select content from Sitefinity inside various channels in our portal. Can this be done? Is there an API or something that we can call, or can content be extracted at the database level so that it can be rendered outside of Sitefinity?

    Thanks!

    Hi Thomas Marshall,

You can use WebService to get the content or other data from Sitefinity based website. Another option is extracting data from RssFeeds. Using the database could be also used, but this is not a good way, because we use Nolics to build the database and make the relations between them. The better option is working with the API. You could take a look at

    Hi,

Thanks for the info but the second link you provided does not seem to work:
    http://www.sitefinity.com/documents/SitefinityDeveloperManual_Aricles_v3_7.chm

It does not have any content. I can download the chm help file but if I open it and try to navigate to any page in the table of contents, it gives me a message "Navigation to the webpage was canceled"

Any chance we can get a working one?

    Thanks

    Hi Thomas Marshall,

It works fine. the Windows security of your machine has blocked the navigation. Right click on the file and select Properties. Then in the General Tab there is a button "Unblock".
